    That's true but this will lead to a yo-yoing effect if you go for drastic weight loss... as soon as you introduce regular calorie intake after the crash diet, it will follow by weight gain, resulting in a vicious cycle.

    2000 calories is the average needed for a woman to maintain weight, 2500 for men. The idea is to "shock" your body by fluctuating the calorie intake so anything 2000 calories and below + exercise will reverse weight gain. Too little calorie intake will just make you starve unnecessarily. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week.

    Thanks for the advice. I think 1500-2000 calories a day would work better for a guy. I'm doing less than half that.

    Lahmajoun is diet friendly ... the key to dieting is eating 3 small portions a day with fruits/vegetables as snacks in between. Basically you want to keep nutrition at a constant flow in your body so it doesn't start storing food. Everybody's metabolism is different but if you play around with Carb/Protein/Fat ratios (30/60/10 for a start) and limit your calorie intake to 1500-2000/day and combine it with 1 hr of exercise a day, you'll see results rather quickly.
