One time, the plane fell into a air-pocket, which lasted 2-3 secs. On the 3 second, I blurted out a loud "Sh*t". Quite embarrasing with all the little old ladies sitting next to me.

United Airlines is a major line. I wouldn't worry about delays during nice weather. Even if you are a little late for your connecting flight, the captain will wait for some time for you. Anyways, I've never missed connecting flights because of delays, and even if you do, they'll set you up in a hotel + meal voucher + a phone card + toiletries. So no worries m8.
