Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

      She pretty & Armenian?

      Talk to her.

You also remind me of the line from "The Princess Bride": Life IS pain! Anybody who tells you differently is trying to sell you something.

She is pretty, and she is Armenian.

And I'll try talking to her when I see her.

One, bud, can I ask you if you'd consider not being a rapper anymore. I'm worried about you man, these rappers are dropping like flies, the poor bastards. Have you thought about being a jazzist. Can't remember last time I heard a jazzist getting shot. Cheers.

            Re: The Vent Thread

Man, the thing is, I would leave music as quick as possible. But as hard as it is to go on with it, it's twice as hard to leave. I want to make music, because I believe I have a unique vision at it. With the little equipment and knowledge I have, I've done a lot of things, and I think I can be very helpful to the music industry. Not just in Rap.

And also, I don't even consider myself a rapper, like I always say. I don't know, I don't Rap. I do a whole lot more. I bring all genre's together, and make it one. So, should I leave, because a lot of rappers are getting killed? No, because I don't see myself living their lifestyle when I get bigger. I see myself being the same person, and living like I do now. Not thrown into the "gangster" rap life.

              Re: The Vent Thread

              I have something to vent.

Something ironic (in an evil and not funny way) is that the Bush bunch claimed “weapons of mass destruction” to justify going to war with Iraq. The war the US is waging is REALLY using nuclear weapons. War is a crime against humanity. DEPLEATED URANIUM IS both NUCLEAR WAR and GENOCIDE

Depleted Uranium is an EVIL that most of mainstream media in not talking about. They aren't fooling me--nor should they fool you.

How ‘liberated’ are these Iraqi children (links below) whose mothers were exposed to the nuclear waste dumped in Iraq (in the form of bombs)? Warning. Graphic pictures of deformed children.

                The time has come.

                      Re: The Vent Thread

I play the guitar and the piano. My creative focus is on the guitar, the study and glory of the classical and romantic era, on the piano.

I've been writing on the guitar for over 3 years and I must say, I've come a long way, but there was a time where I wanted acknowledgement... I wanted people to hear my music and understand me through it. I'd haul over my bulky amplifier to highschool and put it full blast in the gymnasium as often as possible... To a degree, I managed to astonish the guitarists around me, not for the technicality of what I played, but for the creativity, since all they ever did was play the same old licks from Metallica and GNR. I actually wrote my own songs, and my influences were my father's music, the studies from the piano, and Alice in Chains (at the time)... But for the most part, no one listened, no one cared... They just say me as a guitarist (like they saw One-Way as a rapper) and took me for my face value.

I ended up playing in 2 bands with the same drummer during highschool, the first more creative than the other. The second band dragged and dragged, we played many songs, but they were watered down because Adam became the guitarist and I became the bassist (my worst move in that period was buying a bass to make that band work)... Adam played a watered down style of songs from the 60s-80s, and didn't give a xxxx about technicality, while I did, so there was an inner conflict within the band the whole time. In the meantime, the drummer never cared to hear the original tracks of over half the songs we played, and basically learned them through our crappy rendition, which was a real drawback for us... And in the meantime, they had dreams of success. I listened to my father, to keep my head in school and not in that stupid piece of xxxx band I always complained about. Last November, I finally got "kicked out" (they didn't even tell me to leave, they just stopped talking to me since I was in CEGEP and they were in highschool, which is sad because Adam is older than me) at the end of a little show we put on for the drummer's stepdad's bday... I showed Adam once and for all that I was serious with the piano (he'd always ask me to reschedule my lessons so I can come to practice, I wouldn't budge) because I found one there and studied on it for two hours when we were setting up the equipment the day before. When we actually started practicing that day, I decided to play a couple of songs ACCURATELY for once on bass, and they conflicted with the renditions Adam made, which got him angry, and so after the show the next day, that was the end.

Since then, I've continued writing music, but I did it for myself first and foremost. If someone liked what I played, I considered it a bonus, but I would not let it distract me... If someone likes what I do, I see it as a coincidence of interests, and not a success of my own. A hit or miss, luck concept. My style is quite eccentric and includes thrash metal, speed metal, funk/folk, psychadelic rock, melodic variations and some other random stuff that comes up once in a while. The songs develop over the months, even years... They age like wine, because it's rare that I ever abandon a song for good, and so it's rare that I can get them together with another band, and that pretty much seals their fate as songs that were never meant to reach fame. I have over 20 of these songs... To remember them, all I need is a piece of paper with titles I assign each one that is relative to my interpretation of the song, and I can pretty easily pick them up again (however, I need to remake a list, as I lost the old one).

I do put my heart and soul into it, but as I said, it ages like wine, it mellows and evolves into a record in a memory index that reminds me of my past experiences, my past thoughts... I experience limitations when I try to do such a thing with a journal, but it works beautifully with music, as my old memories add flavour to my new creative projects, and in this way, they are one.

I am satisfied as a musician in this way, because first and foremost, it's for ME!

I dunno if reading any of this helps you One-Way, because I recognize that our musical backgrounds are quite distinct from eachother... But I like to think that even opposites can help eachother out by demonstrating to eachother how they go about things, you know what I mean? Maybe what you need are more examples of musicians, rather than a strong focus on a limited number of examples, like what you seem to be doing with Mike.

Another edit: I just recorded and uploaded a song called Despair, and I'm actually kinda satisfied with the way it turned out, you can check it out here http://www.myspace.com/buildupofothe...materialboouom

I'll be updating that page so that I can put on more new recordings... Maybe I should put something heavier in the near future.
