Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Why is it that some of us become more charming and funny when they're buzzed and some of us become bigger asses? In my case, I have to say I get more relaxed and have more ease entertaining, especially a woman I am attracted to. At the same time I've witnessed men turn into jackasses after couple of beers. Same with women, some get angry and super-sensitive and some become really fun to talk to. In future they should invent an applience that would detect the person's drunk-type.

More generally, how does alcohol affect you?

Well if alcohol relaxes your inhibitions then perhaps those people are just jackasses?

I don't drink very often at all, but I generally get silly and playful.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And just because I have to throw some geek into my posts even though everyone ignores it.

Alcohol is considered a sedative hypnotic and its behavioral effects are dose-dependent.

At low blood alcohol levels like .02-.05 it leads to some personality changes, such as increased sociability, talkativeness, and a more "expansive personality". There's mild euphoria with incresed mood, good feelings, increased confidence and increased assertiveness. In addition there's some release of inhibitsions, some reduction of tension, and an increased responsiveness in conflict.

At .08-.10, the mood swings become more extreme and pronounced, with euphoria, emotional outbursts, and release of inhibitions. Above .08 there is noticeable impairment in judgment and motor functioning.

Getting to .15-.20 there's major motor impairment, inability to coordinate muscle movements, staggering, slurred speech, and slowed reaction time. Vestibular sense is impaired (vestibular sense gives information about body and head position) and there's also decreased sensation of pain. At this level people can black out and have pretty big impairments in insight, memory, judgment, etc.

If you keep drinking still...at .30 probably in a stupor, but conscious, not responding much to environment, and vomiting (yay!). Can even start to slip into a coma.

And finally, levels of .40-.50 will be lethal for 50% of people.

Given that there is probably no such thing as a "charming / funny" drunk, I think that some of the opinion options should be changed a bit, to "Alcohol makes me think that I am".

And where is the sleepy option?

When I get drunk, I become more open. I'm usually shy, and I won't talk much, but when I drink, I do what I really want. If I have something to say, I'll say it. I won't hold it in. And this is a good thing, because people WANT you to be open and do what you feel. I become much more friendly, too. I've only been agressive once when I was drunk, but that was because my friend started a fight with me, so I had to kick his ass.

Ohhhhhhhhh, I can honestly say, I'm a HAPPY drunk!!! I decide, on my own free will, to fall down and laugh at the world happy!! This has been tested numerous times. It's a sense of euphoria. AND, the best part is, I've never had a hangover!!!

I haven't actually gotten "really" drunk since college.

But, on several occasions I did get to that '.08-.10' level while drinking entirely by myself.

The "silly" things I remember doing during those times are, the one time I kept knocking on all kinds of strangers doors houses trying to find a place I was looking for. I was in a completely wrong neighborhood and everyone kept sending me further down the street. Finally, I stopped at someones porch and parked on a couch they had out on the porch, and finished the beers I was carrying, then took a short or long nap, then stumbled back. Actually, I spent those 3-4 hours, basically by myself. It wasn't bad, I wanted to do it again.

The other time, I was "rocking out" in my dorm room, then got the sudden urge to serande the "duty team".

I dropped down on my knees and sang them "Bringin' on the heartbreak" by Def Leppard.

Your bringin' on the heartbrea -- ehhhh ehehhh akke

Will I regret asking, what is the "duty team"?
