Was hoping you'd address healthcare when you said no seat belts and insurance. Citizens shouldn't have to pay through taxes for the idiot who gets more severe injury because he thinks he has the right to not wear a helmet or seatbelt.

Yes, alot of them are very much in accord with libertarian tenets indeed.

As far as police offers, it's just my personal slant. I don't like them much. I have not met one nice police officer. They are all control freaks and power hungry and almost always abuse their power. That is what power does, it corrupts. Most people who go into law enforcement are usually the type of people who either cannot use their brains and do not have enough intelligence, or they are trying to compensate for some shortcoming by power(perhaps being picked on as a child, lacking self-esteem, etc.)

As such, cops are ass holes.

Well, I kind of touched upon it in §1-11. Perhaps I should have been more detailed.

No universal healthcare or any thing like it.

Right. I guess we should have a strong government with armed cops all over, and citizens don't have the right to arm themselves. Then maybe, if we institute some authoritarianism, 'everyone' won't end up killing each other, but instead it will be like your Stalinist, or Nazi, or Ottoman killing everyone underneath.

Newsflash. People are already killing each other. There is no such thing as absoliving that. The only difference is, a place like Switzerland, where everyone has firearms, is safer to walk at night, than a place like Los Angeles, CA.

Mouse, people were not killing each other in Armenia. I'm in a town of 8000 here and I would have to be really drunk to walk through some of the areas here, especially the chollo areas. In Armenia, growing up, most you'd get into is an altercation with the "taghi tgherk" at the worst get your ass kicked. Here a 12 year old punk will shoot your ass for your shoes or some thick bastard will pull next to you, unload his gun and take off and probably get away with it. The gun culture in US is breeding a scared, untisocial element, intermixed with a violent, volatile, gun toting element. If it were up to me, I'd initiate rules the way they were under Soviets, you're caught with a gun, you get 10 years mandatory, after you get your ass kicked for good measure. And nobody wants to go to jail in Armenia, not then, not now. Nobody.

One thing I'd agree with is that you can't be soft in punishment, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Either everyone has guns (your options) or you put down the law for real and start xxxxing up some of these punks (or more fittingly their loser parents).

I should add that due to a constant threat of war in Armenia (no matter how small), it's not a bad idea for population to be armed. But, that many gun-related deaths during peace is shameful.

Well, the thing with Armenia, and Switzerland, is that it is relatively homogenous. Cultural homogeneity goes a long way in determining social and national cohesion which in turn reflects in the crime rate. Japan, for example, has no guns, but the society is literally homogenous. People have a similar upbringing, social values, and share a common sense of culture. In places like that, I would argue it doesn't matter.

But in societies like Britain, France, and America, which are now multiracial slums, it is quite a different story. Even Sweden, which has no guns, has seen rises in crime with the growing immigrant (mainly Muslim) population. My only point is, criminals will always get their hands on any weapon, even if it is illegal. When the government makes something illegal, it only creates a black market and that is how crime festers and grows.

The problem with guns is the same thing. People are far more inclined to abuse power, or use a weapon, when they know the other side doesn't have the same capabilities. If everyone was armed, I guarantee people would have a second thought about whatever it is they wanted to do. This same application we saw on the world stage between America, and the former USSR.

When America was the only one that possessed the atomic bomb, we saw how it could abuse its power and it did not hesitate in using it on Japan on two occasions. However, when two sides are both in possession of the weapons, and there is mutually assured destruction, neither side will use it. It is the most basic example of a deterrent effect.

In regards to that society... I know I would mysteriously find many people vandalizing my property...

And the way things are in LA, you definitely can't tell who's packing and who's not.. I've noticed many 'thugs' thinking twice about acting tough
