He NEVER does ANYTHING remotely Armenian anymore, sux. My Mom who is primarily Irish holds down the Armenian traditions more than he does. She loves Armenian culture. My Dad is shameful in that respect ...

Yeah...my dad is like that too, but not because he wants to, but because all his family cares about is money (except my Grandma who already passed away)...my mom is not really into the Armenian stuff, because my dads family always hated her for not being Armenian, so even if we tried to introduce something Armenian related to our holidays, she wouldn't be happy...I kinda see her side, but then again, I always tell her that not all Armenians are like that and the bad oranges are all over, not only between Armenians...

      Re: Armenians in America

As somebody who has been born and raise in America AS an American:

      I HATE THANKSGIVING!!!

I've pretty much ALWAYS hated it, the only redeming thing about it WAS Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but, seeing as how Macy's has taken over Marshall Field's, I hate them now. What used to be green is now red....with a big ol' stupid white star in the middle of it all. It might as well say "COME SHOP AT LENIN'S!"

Last Thanksgiving was so bad, I decided to boycott it from here on out. I hate it; I will never celebrate it again.

      grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........

        Re: Armenians in America

It's true it has become the pre-Christmas catalyst with all the day after sales where, "If you're smart then you'll get your X-Mas shopping out of the way early!" so says retail business. Bah

Jen - The worst thing about my Dad is that he never seemed to care about his Armenian heritage. He understood the language when spoken but never tried to learn how to speak it or write it. He never cooks anymore let alone Armenian food. It's like I'm the main person in my family who is trying to embrace my Armenian half. From the looks of me you'd think I was 100% lol. Them Armo genes is STRONG genes BOI!! lol To top it off when I go to see him he won't even let me cook up anything cuz "Oh it's a hassle blah blah blah" ... for who I'm cooking? pfffttt I <3 Armenians and I <3 Armenian Culture

That's so very true. But when I used to work in a kitchen we used to get Australian lamb in when the better stuff from ? ran out.

No not to offend ... sorry if it came off that way! So sensitive! Perhaps it was from NewZ ... or Niman Ranch where we got all our pork and poultry.
