  • Your workout routine

I thought that maybe we could all post our routines so that we could not only draw on examples from each other, but to show the abundance of "newbies" (not meant derogatorily) to lifting the kind of workouts we really like, perform, and gain from. I'll kick things off:

I train Jiu-Jitsu 4 days per week (for about 1.5 hours, that includes about 6 X [3 minute ab workout with medicine ball], for a sum of 18 minutes), and lift usually 2-3 times per week. I'm certainly no expert on lifting, but here's what I do:

The last couple of weeks I've been going back to Olympic lifts (which I like a lot, I'm going to be phasing them in much more).

One sample workout might be (not counting warm-up sets):
    4x6 dead lifts
    5 sets dips
    4x8 standing overhead dumbbell press
    4x6 palm-in, close-grip lat pull-downs

    Another weight workout might be:
    4x6 squats
    5x5 cable rows
    5x6 bench press
    3 sets of handstand pushups

I allow myself a lot of flexibility in my routine. If I need a day off, or I can't train, then I just skip a day and try to pick up where I left off. I hope to start road work (about 2-3 miles combined run/sprint per day) shortly.

How about the rest of you?

I can't do any form of martial arts because of my knee. So I stick to lifting weights and riding my stationary bike.

For lifting, I lift 4-5 times a week depending on my schedule. Sometimes you just are to tired to lift..I have a setup in my garage, olympic weight bench and weights. I do bench press, military presses, bicep curls and work my triceps. I ride the bike 3-4 times a week.

I do 300 situps everyday also. Have a long way to go in that area. 8)

      Moving around the day.

Yawning before I go to sleep.

I would recommend you gargle with some alcohol to cure the insomnia, or just call me 8)

I know that. The meaning of "I have a long way to go" is I just started again recently, you can't expect results overnight.
