Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Thank you very much for welcoming me here

Jahannam thanx for raising the question why i did not choose to join japanese club or nigeria club.... i have even been to japan many times and i know whole alot about them, and have many japanese friends in school, and i have a mailing group with them i know about nigeria a little bit too, by the reasons that we have studied some stuff in junior college about those muslim countries etc... but Armenia and Armenian are sort of inaccesible, that is why i was so curious.... and i was unable to understand, why are the people of a common history so inaccesible to each other...

in Armenianclub.com i was astonished to find out that some Armenians can even speak Turkish...

i did not know that in two languages there are similiar words also...

so by joining here i did not lose anything, and i got to learn new things...

i am not offended by your discussions of genocide... i even think that it might be partially true...

i know how cruel can ottoman army be in war or things like that... but i really am not sure ... i would like to know the exact truth about it... And i hope there had never been such a genocide (i do not mean you are lying about it, i am just not sure)

I am wondering, whether you people have left with any memories of any happy days of living in Turkey, once upon a time....

My grandmother told me, even though they were from different religions and all, they were living happily altogether... and one day they went away, and they buried all their belongings. And that there was a priest in her town who refused to move away, and took his life by jumping tlo a river, i learned these when i asked my grandmother why is the river called 'the priest's river)

i mean it is a pity, all those happened... i am sure there could be another way out without moving away the Armenians to syria, they could be happier if they stayed, and they wouldnt die in horrible ways...

thats all i know for now.. and how i feel about it....

i understand how all of you feel about all your ancestors died, you are sure that they were killed, but the government here says they died on exile...

whatever form they died in, i think the death was our responsibility, in my opinion, if they were exiled to syrian desert, it is no different than sending them to death....

if there was a genocide, i am sorry for that, if they died in exile, i am sorry again...

theres no justification for their death...(some records said that Armenians were allied with the occupiers, but i do not think that all of them were guilty of that)

i suppose the government will never accept the genocide... but one day they might realize that the exile they talk about, is another way of killing people.... and i hope they apologize from you all.

it is very difficult for me to accept the responsibility of all killings because in nature, we are not violent like this... but i accept that, the last ottoman emperors were sick people, and they might have given sick orders like that... but yet we cant prove it 100%

            common history???
            similar words???
            Genocide might be partially true???
            who are you kidding???

look... even though I can't stand you, I'm gonna say this...
(the rest of you could call me a racist... I don't mind)

Armenia has existed thousands of years before Christ...
your ottoman empire was established in 1301 A.D.
don't you dare say we share a history.
the only part of history that we "share" is how your ancestors(the ones you called sick and violent) kicked us out of ARMENIAN lands, again it wasn't turkey, it was ARMENIA that we got kicked out of, and the ruins of thousands of churches prove that...
it's like hu knows...your house might be on top of my grandparents' bones...
            you should consider digging sometime...

Armenians have their own language. it was found in the fifth century. it has 38 very unique letters, in form AND sound. there is not ONE Armenian word that is similar to a turkish one.. Thank God...
the only reason you've heard Armenians use some "turkish" words(which I don't even know what part of that is Turkish, it's just a mix of latin letters and arabic rooted words) is that turks tried to get rid of Armenians(the only nonmuslims in the area) to use Armenian land for completing the Germany/Mesopotamia railroad that would boost their economy... which also explains why Germany would support a Genocide, that happened!!!(believe it or not)... so how exactly they pulled it? WWI was taking place... so it was a good opportunity... the rest of the world would think we were a part of the war... and they STILL try to use that pathetic excuse... little do they know that there's even signed documents that prove orders given by Talaad Pasha(who else) to take "severe MEASURES" with Armenians.
you could watch the documentary "Germany and the secret Genocide" to see historians actually holding those documents and translating them.

but apparently "some people" prefer NOT digging through the past, nor trying to find documents that make EVERYTHING clear "100%".
            tell you what ...
go do some research, you'll know about Armenians...
don't be joining Armenian clubs, promoting your "innocent" turkishness...
get over it... I don't like u... your grandpa might've killed mine.
I'd be living in beautiful SASSOON now if not for your "sick" ancestors...
my dad wouldn't have been raised an orphan if not for your "sick" ancestors....
I wouldn't have had this much hatred in me if not for your disgusting ancestors...

              Turkic is an Altaic language.

Armenian is part of the Indo-European language group, or rather the Aryan language group.

If that's the reason, then why are you so ready to pounce on someone who goes to either of those 2 schools? Anyway, you should take your own advice about not jumping to conclusions (i.e. generalizing). Being rich is not a prerequisite for getting into USC. Believe me, I know.

                  Dear janannam,

Where as I understand your frustration I have to disagree with you on many issues whether you decide to read or not. First of all I think you are too rough on the new Turkish member and there are points to take into consideration.

                  1) Our languages have some similarity with Arabic (lahmajon which is arabic) and greek words and turkish words, and russian and even french (merci). The interesting thing about geography is that it has this strange effect on influencing many cultures of neighboring nations. Such as the middle eastern and Mediterranean cultures are so alike. Music, dress, traditions, appearance, food and many other factors. Reading about the Armenian villages before 1915 exposed that marriages were arranged traditions similar to middle eastern cultures. Greeks are also almost identical to ours we had much influence from the Romans, Greeks, Byzantines and many others.

                  2) You have to also remember that present Turks did nothing to you or your family and it's not good to generalize and spread and be filled up with so much hate. Armenians experienced so much hate and it is wretched! There is no reason to have that cycle continue. Our genocide needs many decades and reformations to become internationally recognized. And how can it be recognized if people don't even know that such country exists. Do you know of anyone that doesn't know Jews? I didn't think so. So don't be angry with the Turks, it is political and don't turn it into a personal issue.

                  3) You also have to realize that Turks are taught in school such nonsense but then Americans are also taught such nonsense about many things that they think are justified. Many nations have done immoral , outrageous and cruel deals. It is not ethical, immoral and dangerous to anygov't to admit to it's own young men and women that fight for their country are fighting for a contry that commited such cold blooded murders. So they opt for teaching them that it was a mutual war. If you were the president of the country and were not responsible for any such actions would you not be scared to let your people know that they are murderers? Yes it is not moral, unethital and inhuman but such are politics.

                  4) It is only normal for Turks to join the groups or clubs. They are taught to believe that Armenians hate them and like all human beings they are curious as to why. It is often that they engage in such discussions.

So whether you finished reading this or not... I have only one suggestion, change only the things you can and let other things be, put your energy into things that would make a difference. Write an article on Armenia, organize a club, give Turk a book to read on genocide, go to Hayastan and give presents to the orphans. There is so much you can do with that energy you waste on hate. We have to promote our country like the Jews promoted theirs. They did not hate they did something about it! Movies, books, organizations numerous synagogues, clubs, funds, political groups, a powerful army and support of their community, and the economics of their country. No one wants to listen to the weak but everyone wants to believe the powerful, such is life! Strongest survive!

Lav mna, yev sirtat makur pahi.

                    dear jahannam,
i am sorry if i hurt you by any means... i am not pretending about any of the things i wrote... i do not have any other reason for coming to this forum or posting my words... i do not know any of the people here yet, but i came to know that, you hate me, for not who i am or what i did, but for just your own thinking...
when i meant similiar words in languages i meant in daily use, i did not mean about where is the root of the languages etc... for example even your nickname jahannam means something to me... i consider it similiar word.

i did not come here to compare our races, or empires our ancestors set up or whatever... if you are saying that, Turks came to Anatolia and settled there, it already happened and i cant change it... all i know is.. i was born on that land and it became my country and where i belong. And i love my my country. I love my country and it's people does not mean i do not love others or that i am racist.

human heart is a place wide enough to embrace love for everyone... but some people prefer hatred.

i respect you for hating me, and i understand that you might feel i should not speak my words in this forum... i suppose there might be people other than you feeling this way, so i decided not to post any more messages.

That's a shame disksoleil. Dialogue is the only thing that will lead to normalized relations. You seem to be a very open-minded person, and not filled with hate or anything. I will suggest to you to read a few books on the genocide, as I believe that it is turkish ignorance and denial that pisses armenians off greatly. We could also tell you what happened on this forum based on our knowledge, but maybe a non-biased author would have more credibility for you.

Besides that, there are many of other topics we can discuss ( relations today and all its implications), and I think a turkish point of view (a non-offensive one) would give us all a better idea about Armenia's relations with its neighbours.

If you still decide not to post, best of luck to you, and I would hope that once you do find out the truth, you will not try to hide it.
