All I thought was how uninteresting he was, and how he talked so much and yet said nothing groundbreaking, new or of any substance. He bored me with his character and his speeches. This is fascinating, but I really, honestly, never cared about his race. People loved his acceptance speech, I thought it was highly melodramatic, trite and mendacious.

And you know what else I thought of? Hollywood and Halle Barry. The whole thing was staged, dramatic and superficial. Remember when she received that Oscar? First black woman to ever win an Oscar. She is only half black, yet identifies herself as fully black. She is attractive and light colored. She is a very very mediocre actress. Her role in the Monster's Ball was average to say the least. But Hollywood thought that it was time... And who should get it? The attractive, light skinned black woman with a white parent. She held up that silly trophy and with tears in her eyes, while everyone got up and uploaded with the look of "We did it" on their mindless faces. If I was black I would be insulted: "The world rewards us for our mediocre effort, doesn't that say that we are not capable of anything better?"

Hollywood and the Government, it's all a stage, a set up and planned out, predicted outcome. Controlled by the same unethical and manipulative people.

And no, no one did anything with my cornflakes this morning.
    Very true Perdido.

Does anyone truly think that most people who voted for him voted because they knew about his stance on Social Security or the bogus war on terror, or because he was the popular black candidate?

Sad but true and they will take everyone down with them, and all those that get caught in the middle will have to suffer.

    Eh, man never learns.

I think every election has an element of this in US politics. Everything is magnified in this case because of a strong backlash to Bush and because some people may feel they are a part of history. That said, both you and Armenian have made valid arguments on how ridiculous all this glee really is. Even if I see Obama walking on water I still will not believe that he will end the American imperialist state. Empires end only when they die.
