Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    Re: Turkey and minorities

Too many tools on this forum. Go join a turkish forum, you can tickle one another there.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Turkish Ultra Nationalists I assume also shout death to America and ramble on about a Turkish Empire, and Turkish racial superiority. I am sure they have links with Al Qaeda, and the American government calls Armenian's terrorists?

No, they hate Al Qaeda too. Ultra nationalists in Turkey are not religious. Most of them arent even Muslims as I could see.

This is correct actually, the ultra nationalists who support Turan feel that Islam robbed them of their strength and it's a religion that's backward because it was formed by racially inferior Arabs according to Pan Turkism, they believe in the Sun Theory and nonsense like Asina the wolf

              Re: Turkey and minorities

There is not one good book, website, or even a forum where all the ethnic crimes the current Turkish government has committed is documented. From the 90% tax rates, forced name changes, and uncountable arrests and mysterious disappearances, their black hand has successfully cleansed the world of their crimes. Only in obscure Turkish and Armenian references do you find even a rare mention of them, but nowhere a compilation.

Such a compilation would help unite the Turkish and Armenian people, and help cut the strings that the black hand pulls. But most diasporans are too obsessed with their diasporan lives, and at best, the genocide, to help the Turkish people overthrow their military control over their government.

Armenians alone can't stand against Turkey. Armenians can't depend on any other country/organization (LON, UN, ect). What we need to do is help the Turks become aware of their own history, be able to come out with their ethnic heritages (many are at least 1/4 Armenian/Greek by now), and enable the return of Armenians to our historic lands...even if it is, as Monte Melkonian envisioned, under a Turkish flag.

Many of them aware that nearly no one in Anatolia is from %100 Turkic race. Probably the mountain nomads, called "Yoruk" are. I read an article about them and they are too few these days. So, thats also why Turks see themselves as a 'nation'.

However, while carrying different ethnic bloods, none of those supress the others. Just an example, here is one of my "Turkish" friend's ethnic root as he says:

GrandGPa (Ahiskan Turk) - GrandGMa (Ahiskan Turk) GrandGPa (%50 Armenian %50 Turk) - GrandGMa (%25 Armenian %75 Azeri) GrandGPa (Albanian) - GrandGMa (Albanian) GrandGPa (%50 Kurd %50 Turk) - GrandGMa (%50 Arab %50 Turk)

                GrandPa (Ahiskan Turk)-GrandMa (%37,5 Armenian %25 Turk % 37,5 Azeri) GrandPa (Albanian)-GrandMa (%25 Kurd %25 Arab %50 Turk)

                Father (%50 Ahiskan Turk %18,75 Armenian %12,5 Turk %18,75 Azeri) - Mother (%50 Albanian %12,5 Kurd %12,5 Arab %25 Turk)

                My Friend (%25 Ahiskan Turk %25 Albanian %12,5 Turk %9,375 Armenian %9,375 Azeri %6,25 Arab %6,25 Kurd)

This is what Turkish nation is. You can also put Bosniaks, Cherkezs, Abhazs, Greeks, Lazs, Georgians... in to that soup. They already know their ethnic heritage; however they have LOTS of. Not only Armenian or Greek. Thats why it would not work for most of the population. They call this equation as "Turkish nation", so.. they are not like Armenians or Georgians. Theres no one pure (?) race here. And my friend is proud of his roots.

I guess he is referring to the 1940s taxes on minorities - which often was actualy a lot more more than 90% - if your income is $10000 and you are given a tax bill of $30000, with imprisonment until it is paid, then the rate isn't 90%.

And that shows the depth things are at.

I suppose it is forgivable that this place is rather pathetic a lot of of the time. The Armenian diaspora is, in terms of population group sizes, small. And in Armenia not many people have internet access or use the internet regularly. So there is not a big enough user base for a large number of forums. There are only about 4 or 5 that are active enough to be called proper forums.

But there are 90 million people in Turkey, where even small towns have lots of internet cafes, as well as a big diaspora (and a mostly well-educated and multilingual one in Germany). So why are there no decent Turkey-related forums? Because of the sheer number of possible users, a rate of one decent forum to 20 rabid nationalistic ones should be possible.
