well party bosses and churchmen have a picture of Mt Ararat hanging from their living rooms

and they wrap themselves up in the Armenian flag a few times a year

What else do you want them to do?

Apparently "history" takes care of everything, so we have nothing to worry about!

    POWER
    *********************
Socrates knew all he needed to know
but pretended otherwise to disarm his enemies.
But his enemies were not disarmed.
No one can be as smart and as ruthless
as a man of power in defense of his power.
    *
    Socrates knew many things.
    Those whose ignorance he exposed
    knew only one thing: power.
    Socrates lost because he placed
    the power of reason
    above that of greed.

    Compared to our intellectuals –
    from Abovian to Zarian –
our leaders might as well have been
    Mongoloid retards.
And yet – the two saddest words
    in the English language,
    it has been said.

Remember that next time you speak
with one of our bosses, bishops, and benefactors.

    QUESTIONS
    ***********************
Is being Armenian a curse or a blessing?
    *
If we could ask that question to our countless victims,
    what would their answer be?
    *
    Why did Abovian commit suicide?
    If you read his biography
that’s not the question you will ask.
The question you will ask is:
Why did it take him so long to decide?
    *
Why did Gomidas take refuge in insanity?
    Ditto.
    *
Great countries are not afraid of dissent –
    that’s what makes them great.
    Small countries are –
    that’s what makes them small.
    *
A patriot is one who believes
    if our problems are hidden,
they will have a better chance to solve themselves.
    *
A dedicated patriot is one who believes
our critics are our main problem.
    *
A dupe is one who is convinced
if so far we have failed to solve our problems
it’s because our critics have failed to come up
with the right verbal formula --
like abracadabra and hocus pocus –
and on the day they do
we will live happily ever after.

If history teaches us anything it is this:
    we can be wrong;
    we can be wrong even when we are right;
we can be dead wrong even when
God and the Great Powers are on our side.

    Like most Armenian writers
I have been and continue to be
    first and foremost an unemployed
    and unemployable misfit,
and as such, an ideal target

    BROTHERS
    *****************************
    Men with labels –
be they American, Canadian, Greek, xxx,
German, Russian, Turk and Armenian –
are judged not by their best representatives
    but by their worst.
    In a civilized environment
there will be only human beings --
all of them descendants not only of two or three
but many tribes, nations, and races.
    As for family trees:
it would be more accurate to speak
of family bushes, forests, and jungles.

All men are brothers -- like Cain and Abel.
    All wars are civil wars.
    All murders are fratricides.
    Homo sapiens does not exist.
    Homo ignoramus – that’s different.

Pre-1991, Armenians in the diaspora could be heard arguing, "who is better at defending us, the Soviet Union or the US"? Meaning, "who is better at fighting for us, because we want to get on with organizing the next banquet!"

    NOTES / COMMENTS
    ******************************
    Being an Armenian writer
    is an endless source of embarrassment to me;
which is why I feel on safer ground
when I identify myself as a retired church organist.
    *
    Deceivers are full-time professionals
unlike dupes who never rise above the status
    of part-time amateurs.
    *
    The ideal dupe is he
who is brought up to believe
he is too smart to be duped.
    *
    In all organized religions
liars and dupes outnumber the honest men.
    *
Because I was critical of Armenians
    I was identified as a self-hating Armenian
by hateful Armenians who are as ubiquitous
as hateful Turks (most of whom are very probably
    half-Armenian).

    THIS, THAT AND THE OTHER.

How to explain the fact that
young Muslims are being recruited by ISIS?
    The answer is:
They are driven not by love of ISIS
but by hatred of the West.
    *
To have an idea of the depths of contempt
with which these young men and women are treated,
read Churchill on Indians in general (“I hate them”)
and Gandhi in particular (“a fakir”).

If you want to understand a country,
study not its laws but their implementation.
    All men are created equal?
    Don’t make me laugh.
    Remember the slogan:
“The only good Indian is a dead Indian.”

    I understand white men

    On Armenians and Armenian literature:
    if a writer is dead,
treat him with the respect due to a cadaver.
    As for the others:
    There are no others!
