So when exactly did the friendship between Gaddafi and Europe go sour? They had like a thousand different deals right up until the bombing started.

Only the Italians have close commercial ties to the Libyans and Gaddafi's never been on good terms with the Anglo-Americans.

Gaddafi's a shady character and Libya is a client of Russia and China. Which is presumably why our Armenian friends are bawling their eyes out.

North Africa is a major secuity problem for Europe and I can see Europe entering the region. The Arabs are a dead loss and they would rather build mosques, than invest money in developing Muslim nations.

Italy and Gaddafi were pretty tight but I think he pissed France off somehow. The French imperialists are often the most brutal.

The French have far more influence in North Africa than the Italians. Sarkozy is a rabidly pro-Atlanticist Zionist and he will be decimated during the next French general election. So I suppose he has little to lose at this point.

The French were the first to score the touchdown if you noticed. It is probably because there was a scandal involving Ben Ali and the French. In the midst of the uprising in Tunisia, the French Foreign Minister and other officials were discovered to be taking vacations on Tunisian beaches and it was an epic fail for the already unpopular Sarkozy government which is/was scheduled to lose the next election. The French rushing to bomb Libya might have been so they save face, show they are not in bed with corruption. Maybe an attempt at popularity boosting by Sarko too.

He is an unreliable partner, better he is gone for Europe and replaced with cronies that will remain consistent instead of the unpredictable Gadhafi who has largely been an independent dictator (compare to Mubarak, Ben Ali). This is years in the making for the thorn he has been to Europe's side for the decades he has ruled, initially kicking out the Euro-oil companies during the coup d'etat all the way to the Lockerbie bombing suspect's release which, due to Wikileaks, we have discovered a major "conspiracy" (a "theory" no longer ) to release the bomber in exchange for investment deals. He has turned Europe into an even bigger laughing stock than it is. You might have noticed that the Italians were initially very quiet about the whole thing and later hopped on the bandwagon. The rest of the Eurogangsters probably convinced Berlusconi (in bed with Gadhafi) that he'd get his share too

Shouldn't NATO and company be put on trial for arming rebels, orchestrating a rebellion and illegally invading a sovereign country? Come on U.N., you're supposed to be an impartial judge. The I.C.C. is a joke... they've been bombing Libya and Gaddafi for 4 months and NOW they issue an arrest.

The only real ramification of the ICC ruling is that Gaddafi isn't free to travel and is at increased risk of capture.

The International Criminal Court has 114 member states. However of the 139 states that had signed the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, 34 have still not ratified the treaty and Armenia coincidentally is one of them.

Libyan leaders in talks in Tunisia

Three Libyan government ministers are in Tunisia for talks with international parties on efforts to halt the conflict in their country

Tunisia's official news agency TAP said on Monday that Health Minister Mohammed Hijazi and Social Affairs Minister Ibrahim Sherif arrived on Sunday in the tourist resort of Jerba, southern Tunisia, where talks were underway.

The two ministers joined up with Foreign Minister Abdelati al-Obeidi who has been in Tunisia since last Wednesday and been "in negotiations with several foreign parties," TAP said without giving further details.

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said on Sunday that "contacts are taking place" between Muamer Gaddafi's regime and rebels, notably concerning the Libyan leader's future.

A senior official representing Libya's rebels said the same day they were expecting to receive an offer from Gaddafi "very soon" that could end the four-month-old war.
Abdel Hafiz Ghoga, vice chairman of the rebels' National Transitional Council, said intermediaries had indicated that a proposal from the Libyan strongman was in the works.

The NTC was not in direct talks with Gaddafi but understood through contacts with France and South Africa that an offer was being prepared, he said.

An African Union panel which met in the South African capital of Pretoria on Sunday said Gaddafi would not participate in peace talks, in what appeared to be a concession.
