It's good as long as it is not taken to an extreme form *ahem communism*
I think that it is good to have things like socialized medicine, etc. It is just important to draw the line somewhere. When it gets to a point where people do not have to work as hard as others or be as educated to have the same life style - something is wrong.

well canada is asocialist nation. communism is a great form of government on paper but it dosnt work.
and if you read my post you saw that I said exactly that lol
Socialism can turn into extreme forms, which end being nothing but political experiments at the cost of the people of whichever nation it may be. It is close to impossible if not impossible to have the perfect Social government as originally imagined. I'm not optimistic about it.
It's impossible for humans to create a perfect anything.
If we cannot have the pure socialism we want, then we are better off with none at all. I would be happy with socialized programs - I already said how I feel about total socialistic government.
you all know how i feel on the matter.
i was wondering what you all think about the socialist ideal.
Socialism is illogical. It's economics is a contradiction. It thrives on collectivity and mass mindedness. It is, quite precisely, one of the worst political abominations unleashed on man as it caused the most destruction in its two variants, National Socialism, and International Socialism.

I don't know how well you're economics is, but if you want a good treatise on political theory, capitalism, and socialism, I urge you to read this piece by Hans-Herman Hoppe
