Yah, there are alot of words that have absolutly no comparison between the two dialects. Like "sh!tak" - its not related to any word in the eastern dialect.

Turkish Armenians also say "ghor" - which I believe is Turkish? The Western Dialect in itself has many divisions.

I don't think only "Turkish" Armenians use "gor". I don't think it's a Turkish word or anything, either. It's hard to stop using it, at least for me. I always get called a "gor gor" by some of my Eastern Armenian-speaking friends.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the equivalent to the em/en/enk/eink suffix that in Eastern Armenian facilitates the present tense verbs.

Eastern Armenian: yes gnum em, yes uzum em
Western Armenian: yes gnam ghor, yes uzem ghor

That is not correct. In Western Armenian - with the exception of few - "gor" is used as the English "progressive/continuous" tense. The difference between "g@ krem" and "g@ krem gor" is "I write" and "I am writing."
Written Armenian - like other languages - lacks the "progressive" tense. "Gor" is never used in a written text, unless in a conversation.

In some dialects, a different word - or suffix - is used. For instance, I have noticed that Armenians in Aleppo use "e" instead of "gor." Thus, "g@ krem gor" becomes "g@ kreme" or "g@ krem e" - I don't know if it's meant to be a suffix or a separate word?




P.S. It is obvious that the suffix em is in both "yes uzum em" and "yes [g']uzem"

There exists many regional dialects in Western Armenian; my late Grand Mother spoke a dialect that nobody understood. Also, the kesabahay or Armenians from Musa dagh speak a very distinct dialect.

I consider Diaspora as my home; I'm from Western Armenia.
