Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Anahita, I have to agree with Sip. You manage to link everything to some environmental issue and it's getting quite old. Posting offtopic means not sticking to the topic of the thread and it's got nothing to do with your perceived connections (ie just because something in a thread leads you to another thought or topic, does not make it ontopic and therefore okay to post). Please stop it.

Mouse - I believe I read somewhere that there's been no ethnic differences found... do you have a citation that says otherwise?

Tunot - There is no such correlation to my knowledge, so do you too have a citation for that claim? It would be very difficult if not impossible, to be able to study certain aspects of environment. There are just too many extraneous variables to control for. Twin studies support a very strong biological influence, but it's not possible to control for environment in the way that using monozygotic twins control genetics.

          ON INTELLIGENCE!

If I really need to, I (we) will destroy the global economy to save humanity--maybe via lightning strikes (that means many jobs are gone and that techno, computer, and economics skills are REALLY completely worthless). It will take less than a month without electricity (as just one example of the how) to bring all in the global economy back to mostly a subsistence-kind (at least just a local/regional economy) of living. I’d really rather not need to do that.

I am asking for your help and it is definitely in your best interest to listen to me. I think, those who don’t listen aren’t very smart, regardless of their so-called qualifications. Tell me more about ‘worthlessness’ and being smart [dripping in irony and sarcasm]

Now, knowing that, we can debate and discuss. I already have many on Wall Street scrambling (‘running’—per the footprint thread) to respect the planet (that’s good and I thank their efforts.) I think that anyone who can’t see what I am saying isn’t very intelligent (also see the irony of religion thread). LIGHTS OUT is only one of thousands of things that can happen…

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You sound like the definition of a narcissist (click for description). Stop it or you're gone...permanently. I've had all I can tolerate.

I honestly don’t understand what you want. Stop what? Being honest?

I understand that you don’t really understand what I say, but how is not saying things better? Because the truth isn’t comfortable? Should I remain silent and let many people die? I'm not kidding, either. That doesn't seem like an intelligent thing to do. Please explain what you mean and let me know if you want me to post things in a specific place, or whatever. I can’t lie by omission of information, though.

Siggie, I know that this all can feel threatening and intimidating because of your chosen profession… but, like with everyone I’ve given a direction, I give good leads--I gave you a book that, if you read, you'll understand and see the potential there (you can find a new nitch, where few have treaded, within that profession that legitimizes what you do in the light of new information.) Seriously, I am handing new niches (with lots of $$) but people seem to reject those right now. I also had this idea for 'post-it' notes...

Re: What do you consider more important.....

Did you happen to look at that description of a narcissist? Not everyone who disagrees with you has failed to comprehend you. I understand what you say and shockingly I even agree with a bit of it. I have no idea what you mean about being threatened because of my chosen profession. I have no problem with your opinions and you're welcome to then and you're welcome to share them, BUT only in the appropriate place. Why is it so difficult for you to understand that dna barcoding application to species of animals is not relevant to this discussion?! You're going overboard and you are really testing my patience. Express your opinion in the relevant thread. All you're doing is posting it anywhere where you can make any sort of connection in your mind and that seems to be everywhere. That is spamming and I'm not going to let you do it anymore.
I didn't expect this to lead to a discussion in this thread and now I'm sorry I said it here, but I am not going to discuss it further. If this was not explicit and clear enough for you to understand what I am saying, then there is no way I can get it through to you, but I will not ask again.
Do not even reply. There's no need. Just do it or leave.

Re: What do you consider more important.....

                  yikes...

Anyhow, about the comment on no variation based on ethnicity (for intelligence)... Well, ethnicity based on skin colour is very stupid because there could be as much genetic variation or even more variation between two "Negros" than between a "Negro" and "Caucasian". These "ethnicities" are works of society and so is their performance when compared to "whites". Yes yes yes, there's always a biological variable, but don't blow it out of proportion with such blind categorizations. There are always hidden, lingering variables behind performance... I read that an Canada for example, blacks on average have a higher rate for getting a university diploma than whites do. There is no mention of what programs they've been enrolled in or where they live, and so we may very well be comparing populations unfit to be compared so blindly.

Yet this can be seen from the flipside situation as well, such as in why in America, blacks on average score the lowest of all. I personally couldn't care less if it's true or not (if it's true, well tough luck for them), but I've yet to be convinced that the sources of such findings are credible.

EVERYONE IS AFRICAN—many don’t deserve the right to claim that dignity, though.

I am sorry… that message (that I quoted) was either posted before or at the very same time as I wrote what I did earlier. I have trouble because you and I think in very different time and contexts. This is very serious and makes me cry because I try so hard to help you understand. I AM on topic but you don’t understand that (and I don’t know how to say that in the right or correct way.).

Ok, what issues are NOT ecology issues? I challenge you to find any issue that is not, at the core, an ecological issue. I’ve been trying to say that all along. What does the Armenian genocide matter to anyone, if insane Bush Jr. goes even more insane and big-nuclear with Iran, starts a nuclear war, and kills all. I tend to think big picture and maybe that is why my posts seem off topic. They really are not, though.

Everything's interconnected, that's true, but we're all too distracted by one or two aspects of it all at a time, and so when you bring an issue that embraces all other issues, we feel disoriented. It just doesn't feel all that related, but it definately is, because we all stem out from nature.

But Siggie wants to lay down some rules, and there's not much you can do about it.
