Actually the need for democracy, happiness, and equality is what has been the motivation for the actions of many intelligent men to create the changes we enjoy today. Look at Martin Luther King, Jr. for example, and the many other important figures that have caused "change." Most of these changes were due to the oppression these people felt was unfair. And even though in Vonnegut's story intelligence is not valued, Harrison's need for democracy, for happiness, is what causes him to separate himself from his "equality weights" and be free. Thus intelligence can not fully be expressed without the nurturing of a proper environment providing the motivation.

From what I have learned in my education..

Intelligence is largely biological. There is a "critical" period early in development though. So, a broader range of intelligence is determined biologically, but the number of neuronal connection made during that critical period will determine where in that range we'll be.

Intelligence is biological. That is why intelligent people produce intelligent offspring. That is also why low class and unintelligent people produce the same low quality and en masse. There is a truth in eugenic or dysgenic breeding.

Some of intelligence is biological—but that is somewhat trivial when compared to experience, education and drive. The Western conceptualization of intelligence as merely equated to IQ-sorts of measurement is woefully inadequate. First, those leave out all sorts of other kinds of intelligence—like emotional intelligence, for example. Second, those ways of measurement are inaccurate (and biased) measures of true intelligence (you couldn't score high on something you've never learned). Third, there are many kinds of amazing mental abilities that are really never measured in any standardized test or other measure of intelligence.

Then there is one of the most important kinds of intelligence/knowledge—that is NATURAL IQ (or bioliteracy). Most who live close to nature (often poor people in LDC’s and others) often have a wealth of this kind of intelligence. Many people in industrial nations are close to mentally retarded in that realm. Anonymouse, biological Darwinism would wipe you out in a matter of weeks if you didn’t have a society supporting you (that means industrial society right now, and ‘the bioliterate’ if, in the future, you should have to live without industrial society.) The same is true for a few others who rant about 'the poor' and 'drains on society...'

Emotional intelligence and multiple intelligences are bullsh*t. EQ is more like maturity imo and the other "intelligences" are skills.

I'd like to see someone who has traveled the globe try to decypher the human DNA or come up with an algorithm on the same level of public key encryption.

This is more broad than just the human genome, but seems related to what you just mentioned and what I've been saying about bioliteracy. I've linked to articles by Dan Janzen, many times (Anonymouse usually calls them worthless and annoying, but that's just his opinion ).

Given that Janzen and Hallwachs are two of the most well-known and respected ecologists in the world, I’m guessing there could be quite a bit of collaboration-potential between development of such a technology (below) and the biological information parts, as well as maybe securing funding for doing such. (InBio and other places have already documented much biodata.)

Maybe some computer PhD person might know the computer/tech/academic sides of that better.

DNA barcoding seems to me as at least interesting and relevant here. I don't know much about the computer side of development of this sort of future technology (nor thought through the implications), but I do understand the biological part.

I completely fail to see how taking a phrase from my post and linking it to some environmental issue at all pretains to this thread. The proper term for that, I think, is "spamming". To relate this post to the thread, I think spammers are the least intelligent of all life forms ... they are almost anti-intelligent.

I read your post, was going to point something different out, and serendipity lead me to this DNA barcode technology article (something I've never heard of before a few minutes ago). I thought, perhaps, that would be something you would be interested in or at least understand what would be required to develop such a device...


Seems to me, it would be smart on your part to at least see the relevance... even if for no other reason than there is, no doubt, a sh*tload of money to be made from the idea/invention.

You might have already guessed that I would reply to this and vehemently disagree. There is absolutely a strong connection between having a high IQ (if that is how we are supposed to objectively measure intelligence) and being born into a certain environment that promotes, supports, and encourages higher education. You are ignoring the thousands of blacks, when given the opportunity, with very high academic achievements. Likewise, there are millions of Asians who never reached above primary education, if they even achieved that, and would score much lower on a Western IQ-test than an African American or Mexican drop-out from a school in the slums of Los Angeles.

Maybe it is true that certain levels of higher intelligence, in the case of Phds, Grand Masters, etc., are biological, but everyone born with a healthy brain should have the ability to at least finish high school and serve the community one way or another. There is nothing biological about your average toilet cleaner and garbageman.

As for other countries, like Africa, never making it to so-called high civilization: this is YOUR interpretation of high civilization. Other people might have a different view on what a high civilization is. I do hope that despite your adamant views on biological warfare and ultimate genocide of what you call "lower mankind," you do have a high enough IQ to be able to see beauty, inspiration, and intelligence around the world. It would make you miss out on quite a bit if you wouldn't, including your own culture, which may not be as highly civilized as Nietzsche's, in your view, but has beauties that no other culture in the world, not even the most civilized, has ever created.
