Iran know that it will not be invaded. Iran has the military technology unlike Iraq, to destroy the American Naval fleet in the Persian Gulf and cut off tens of thousands of American troops in Iraq.

Take a look at what a simple cruise missle did to one of Israel's most sophisticated and most expensive missle ships. They are claiming that the defences of the ship were not working at the time it got hit. I say bull s-h-i-t.

Also, take into consideration the 'crude' Scud missiles that Saddam threw at Israel during the first Gulf war. Not a single one was intercepted by the highly advanced "Patriot" anti-missile system. At the time, Media propaganda clamied that a high percentage of missiles were being intercepted by the Patriots. However, many years later, military analysts admited that NOT A SINGLE SCUD MISSILE WAS DESTROYED IN FLIGHT BY PATRIOTS.

The Phalanx gun defence technology is approximately 20 years old and it has never been proven in combat. The Israeli ship that got hit last week was eguipped with the system.

The Lebanese people are the victims of Israeli aggression against their country.

I have a great deal of admiration for the people of Lebanon who opened their doors and their hearts to thousands of Armenian refugees fleeing the horrors of the Genocide.

Quite frankly our brothers from Lebanon are among the most patriotic Armenians in the world.

I think that if Israel makes our community to suffer even more than they have already suffered in the last few weeks, some of our people will join forces with Hizballah and the Lebanese army to defend their country.

You are the one who is pushing an argument that is telling me to simply "trust you". The fact remains that not only what I said is true, the sunburn has never even seen combat.
How many sunburn missiles does Iran have? In what way will they use them? Shipborne? Airborne?
I always thought the sunburn could be detected, it uses active radar homing. I do understand though that the phalanx is hardly a match for it, I never tried to state it could defeat it. Once the missile is in range for it to detect it, the phalanx system has around 2 seconds to respond.
You claim I am watching too many Hollywood war movies in an attempt to brush away what I have said, but other than "trust me" you have failed to show me how Iranian forces could come anywhere near destroying a US navy fleet. The 5th and 7th navy fleets are the ones that operate in the Persian Gulf I believe. Like I said before, with AWACS keeping an eye on an area covering 320kms around the fleet, fleet vessels and fleet aircraft armed with Harpoon missiles (ranges between 100-240kms) and ofcourse Tomahawk cruise missiles (1100kms), these sunburn missiles may never even leave their launchers. What about US submarines? What about US air power?
Finally, take a look at a map, Iran is effectively encircled. The US has more options than simply sailing the 5th and 7th fleets up the Persian Gulf.
Iran defeat the armed forces of the United States? Well, I guess they can try...

Are you familiar with logistics and planning?

Top American generals have all highlighted their disagreements with the neocons. They have repeatedly stated that the U.S. military is overstretched and thing and demoralized, especially in Iraq, and is not supplied the way it should be. The only encircled will be against the American military, sadly. Those poor young soldiers are caught in the winds if something happens. Iran can effectively swoop down and deliver a heavy blow to the Americans in Iraq already bogged down by insurgents. This is why America needs to leave Iraq now. And if Israel has a problem, let them fight their own wars. They are chickens and always have been because they have always relied on America.
