Quite possibly the stupidest thing, for reasons that are too obvious. If you don't know then obviously you haven't dated. In fact, one doesn't even have to have experience in the dating world to see why first dates are quite possibly the worst thing to happen to both parties.

You people are misconstruing the situation. This isn't just about me. It's about first dates in general.

It's about pretension, about conforming to appeal across to your date, its about not being yourself.

well, the first couple of dates are always about presenting yourself like someone you think your date will like and then after that you try to slowly conform back into the real you.

Ahhhhh. Are you an advocate then of pretending to be something/someone you're not in order to impress your date?? No thanks very much. I would rather have whoever I am going on a date with see my true colors than waste my time getting him to like someone I am not, nor will I ever be. Seriously it's a big waste of two peoples time. First dates go well when you're being yourself and not trying to remember exactly what you're 'supposed to be' doing next. i.e. 'conforming to appeal' That way you know early enough if you really want to spend another second getting to know this guy/girl, and if you find that you don't you can get out of it early enough to go have a drink with your friends and try to salvage the evening....

I agree with Anon. First dates suck, especially if it's a blind date! First is the meeting. What do you do, do you meet armenian style and hug and kiss both cheeks? The girl will think you're weird if you do that. Then during the date if there is akward moments of silence, that is awful. Also during the whole date both people are thinking of how the date will end. Do you shake hands, do you hug do you stick your tongue down her throat , etc. I think first dates should be banned.

I skip over the first and second dates and go straight to the third dates.

And if he/she/it insists on having a first and second date before the third, I chop them up and eat them. Don't worry: I never forget the Tobasco sauce.

meh, i never change how i am, even on a date, no point, if the girl aint gonna like me how i am, a) why would i be on a date with them? b) if date goes well i wud have to be fake for all of relationship....sod that
