You have almost a 100% chance of contracting a terminal disease from smoking, yet we don't outlaw cigarettes. The government has no right to tell people what risks they can or cannot take.
I would like to see you spread lung cancer. And don't say second hand smoke. And how do you plan on regulating the industry exactly? It's impossible. You're gonna have the name of every last poor girl in apalachia that feels like making a few quick bucks for that week? What you're saying is cute in concepts but not in reality.

What's wrong with keeping the cost of something high? Your solution is to cheapen something bad so everyone can have it? The disagreement here is that you think prostitution is harmless and I don't. So it doesn't make sense to argue about what it would cost, or it should be regulated. The disagreement is fundamental.

    • The disagreement is irrelevant. You don't outlaw something because it is dangerous. You'd have to completely outlaw all promiscuity. Again, the government has no right to tell people what they can or cannot do with their own bodies.

      • By the way, I've lived in Appalachia before, and people in California and in New York are far more promiscuous and sexually active.

        • Then why do we have a goverment in the first place? Unneccacary if we all can do what we want and choose what we want in life. why do we have laws that forbid things? Why isn't it ok for me to kill someone, its my life i can do whatever i want? why should the state "control" me?

By the way: Total nonsense? Do you have any knowledge whatsoever about the operation of free markets? I thought you had a degree in business.

Again, this is not about making profit/ buissness, if that is on your mind then of course its better to legalize prostitution as it would bring more benefit to the buissneses.

          • I was skimming through Amazon.com for books on Caravaggio, and found this:

A Book Of The Arts!, March 23, 2000
Reviewer: Caryn from New York City
This is a beautiful book. As a divorced hardworking mother of 3, I spend all of my time reading this book to my children, Isaul (age 90) Gabriella (age 16) and Kraquel (age 3) I also read it to my co-workers where I work, a prositute. This is truley a work of art.
Anyway I thought it was related to this issue, and to let you know that not all prostitutes are idiots and they read books and stuff.
            Achkerov kute.

I hope you understand, you are a dunce. It is legal for me to stand on my head in my living room; that does not mean it is regulated by law. Everyone knows you are upset with the government but do not get sloppy with your diction.

And I did say that right now, the only way it can "just be," as you said, is by legalizing.

No wouldn't want to take that title away from you.

The point is, in case I have to spell it out for you, something doesn't start off as illegal and then you go and "legalize it". The way things work with our societies is that things are assumed to be legal until you go and pass laws making them illegal. That's the whole point of a "free society".
