In Bruin's defense, statistical techniques are used all the time to extrapolate from a "random sampling" of a population to arrive at a conclusion about the entire population with certain confidence intervals.
However, I doubt bruin has been going around dating random guys.
Very good... her conclusions are based on a sample of convenience which is biased.

but then again i don't understand how ,according to mouse, a woman can have time to raise a family and still be FORMALLY educated unless it happens later in life... i don't know? unless she stays home and reads books...that's another way to go?!
It is possible. One of my best friends did it. She had two kids as an undergrad, finished her BA, MA, and is now working on her PhD at UCSB and her kids are 3 and 5.

We make external attributions to explain our behaviors and internal attributions to explain those of other.
Ex: If Sally trips and drops all her books it's because she's clumsy.
If I trip and drop my books it's because the sidewalk was uneven.
She doesn't want to recognize that there was probably more to why a date or relationship was a failure... it's easier on our egos to blame the other person. Couple that with unwarranted generalization and VIOLA!

ah ha!! i see it now! i do remember reading about that theory in an undergrad psych class...yeah, but i'm not arrogant to believe that i am flawless and that it's "all them"(the guys)...we are ALL imperfect creatures; rather i have come to the conclusion that there might be a subconscious element involved here on my part which seeks out this type (WITHOUT ME REALIZING OR UNDERSTANDING WHY??) or?? a case of "opposites attracting" where the selfish guy seeks the caring girl (hate to use adjectives to describe mysefl) ~~ it might very well be a combination of the two

No guy is perfect. Its hard to get out of the habit of looking for minor flaws and faults and making them into huge deals.
It's also hard not to be skeptical when you've been hurt. I used to look for a reason not to like someone i met or want to be friends even because I didn't want to get hurt again. You miss out on so much when you do that.
I'm not saying not to be cautious or to turn a blind eye, but don't dismiss a guy without giving him a chance because of someone else's mistakes.
