  • Dating armenian docs--as in MD and the like :--)

ok, before you all start ASSUMING things, i am not dating one, nor is there a willing and able candidate at the moment... i just want to know your guys' opinion on this, and i'd appreciate both male and female perspective on this..here's the question:

based on your own experience or that of other people such as friends and colleagues...etc. do you guys sense this c*cky, arrogant, standoffishness when it comes to armenian docs? is it all in my head???? or is this an 'evidence based' phenomenon? ---to me, they seem quite a bit standoffish! just the other day i had a very nice conversation with a 4th year med student (not armenian) about patient care, relationships, school, demands in the medical field,... etc. i have noticed some c*cky white boy med students/docs too, but i have yet to see a NON-c*cky armenian...so how do you guys perceive this? this observation is something new so i haven't thought about it too much, hence my undecided stance....and i'd like to be fair and impartial in the way i think...thanks

Well....this isn't much to go on, but I'll relay a story....

I was in the AC chat room a while back, and a doctor entered. The topic when he entered was about fat burners (someone mentioned Xenadrine, or something), and I was explaining to the other chatters why ephedrine was so effective, and why the newer fat burners without it aren't really worth much anymore. Well, this doctor proceeded to PM me, and say he had to disagree on my explaination. He told me why, to which I said "yes, I'm well aware of that. But do you really expect the people in here to get that definition?" He said fair enough, and we dropped the subject. I then asked him his opinion on an on going condition I was having due to a run in with ephedrine. After he answered, he asked where I was from. When I told him a suburb from Chicago, he said that's cool; he'd be making a work related visit in a different suburb near here soon. He asked "how the women" are here. I told him the town I live in is full of stuck up snobs who don't give you the time of day if you don't drive a BMW or Mercedes, to which he replied "good. I wouldn't want a 'commoner'".

*It should be noted I hate most doctors, because all the majority of them are interested in is pushing prescriptions due to kick backs and rewards they receive from the pharmaceutical companies for doing so, while bashing supplements they know nothing about because they hurt their pocket books, or they're just to arrogant to admit they lack the knowledge on them. Nutritional education isn't really required for doctors, and most don't take it upon themselves to learn about it.

      I have to agree.

I actually plan to marry an Armenian MD. There are many Armenian MDs (and MD students ) who are good people and will make good husbands. Being an MD does not automatically make one standoffish. Dont let a few jerks turn you off.

ArmoBarbi - you are actually planing to marry an Armenian MD?!?!?!?! that is rich...I take it its the money that interests you - not the fact that doctors save lives or such (otherwise maybe you might be interested in marrying an ER tech or fireman or such). My only hope for you is that you might wait a bit before actually hooking up...just wait long enough till you realise what living and happiness and such is all about...you have one life only to live (at least I believe this to be so - not sure what you think) - I suggest making decisions based on somewhat more informed choices....

And in general I think it is inadvisable to generalise concerning what all/most etc doctors are like personally (and if they might - as a group - make good husbands and such...and what is one's criteria...do doctors give better head - I don't know really?). Now if one were to perhaps critique the corporate cultures of doctors - to include the AMA and how many wxhxoxrxe to (pharmacutical, $$ gadget etc) industry - well OK - understand that...but is this really enough to say that all/most docors are such and such...etc - particualrly when it comes to picking one's life partner....and why does a particular proffesion make such a difference? Is love able to be corraled so into such narrow categories?

I also believe that we only get one life, and I also suggest that you make decisions based on somewhat more informed choirces - you have no clue as to why I wish to marry an MD. If I wanted money I could marry a lot more than just an MD...or...crazy idea...I could just make money myself! Thank you for the concern. It is appreciated.

i gotta agree with barbi on this one!

REAL money is found in real estate(if you're at the top of your field), in being a contractor, entrepreneur, LAW!!(again if you're at the top)...poor MD's... they slave for years in school and then many more in residency -depending on their field of specialty- and for all the time and energy they put in and sleep and partying time they lose out on, the amount of money they eventually make is not compensating all that they've had to sacrifice!
real gratification in medicine comes from being a good physician and not so much performing 'miracles' but being God's helping hand and intervene and alleviate human illness, misery, and pain, and increase patient comfort and maintain good health and exercise conscientious and ethical patient care!
THAT is why most physicians go into medicine...though sadly there are exceptions as with anything else in life...
