Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

most of the so called "Traditions" include marrying a woman or man they have not met for more than a few minutes, or have met breifly over time, aka aquaintinces. In which case, from what I have seen, the marriage is a joke. They do what they can, marry someone just for the hell of tradition???? Although I agree with armenians marrying armenians, I say find an armenian that you really do love. LOVE is the key word for any marriage to last and be well.

Maybe many of you are open minded but there are far to many Armenians, I have come accross, who have a very narrow definition of what an Armenian is and how and Armenian is supposed to act/live.
Honestly gmd I agree with u 100% & Armenians are not perfect. Im proud to be Armenian but some Armenians have the mentality that they are above all other nationalities.

On the contrary ... in the "big picture", race and nationality are irrelevant

Actually, if you want to get philosophical about it, probably everything is irrelevant when one looks at a picture that is "big" enough.

Sip your a very smart man I must say. Race & nationality have nothing to do with anything when you have found that special someone. People that think same naionality & race have to marry eachother are narrow minded people.

Actually narrow-mindedness has a variety of meanings, one of which applies to people who reject categorically others’ ideas and think of themselves as pretty open-minded.

Exactly so what if 2 diffrent natiionalitis get married & others reject it they are narrow minded according to you right? (like you said). So an Armenian can marry a Non Armenian & it will be ok. I dont know why Armenians make such a big deal when Armenians marry out of there race.

Re: Like to know what nationalities Armenians are dating these days...

All the examples brought forward by members who are in interracial relationships are negative. There is a good and a bad in every nationality. I do agree that allot of Armenians get married for the wrong reasons, be it the convenience that they are both Armenian or get married young these days just to get freedom

If some Armenians are narrow minded and they don't accept otars when it comes to marriage, they are only concerned about becoming the next Assyrians. No one here is telling you guys marry an Armenian who is treating you bad, disrespecting you etc etc. (mind you these are only excuses, this is exactly what I used to say and just about every Armenian I know who's with an otar) Keep in mind us Armenians are humans too, we make the same mistakes as a Frenchman or an Englishman. You wouldn't date someone that treats you bad regardless of his or her nationality.

If you guys have found happiness with your partner congratulations and I wish you a happy future. Why do you feel like you have to defend it? Regardless of what some Armenians may say, if you are truly happy then you shouldn't give a damn about what other people say.

When one choses their life partner, they make that decision based on their wants, needs and lifestyle. No one has the right here to say you are right or wrong. However, the question was raised and we have the right to give our opinions and discuss, after all this is a discussion forum yea?

For me personally I couldn't be with an Otar, simply because I have dated one and there were way too many complications (and not just with family) that aside, It wasn't what I wanted.

Bottom line is, it's hard enough as it is to raise our children as Armenians in otar countries with both parents being Armenian. It's just that little bit harder when parents are of different nationality. It is doable, but it's hard, specially if the other partners culture is just as rich as ours.
