WTF? The same thing that would cause a burger purchased from said golden-arched establishment and hurled into the sky to fall back down to Earth.

You don't believe in gravity either, then?

Gave up on the cutting government research funding discussion?

Gravity can't even pull small objects that are in orbit (like satellites) into the Earth's atmosphere... An asteroid that is traveling in its own orbit would have to be timed perfectly in order to collide with another planet. What do you think would happen if you were to knock a huge object out of its orbit?

        Akh, Dre...
That's what the keyhole is... if it passes through, Earth's gravity will be enough to alter its orbit sufficiently that it will collide next time around.
Earth has been struck before, why would you think it can't happen in the future?

There is no proof the Earth has ever been struck by an Asteroid. It is only a belief.

*blinks in disbelief* And any giant craters are what? Dried up public pools for dinosaurs? The craters on the moon were stamped there by the astronauts who never went there? Your ignorance is simply astounding.

You have no proof... only articles written by a group of scientists who change their opinion and stories every now and then. There are no craters on Earth... the claim is that they were all destroyed by weathering. So mother nature took care of the evidence.

                  Re: Nasa's Glorious Failure

Hey, someone identified a somewhat circular depression on the Earth's surface a result of an asteroid impact so it must be true. The idea of impact craters were absurd until the 1950's-60's. Sh!t, I wish I had the power to influence popular opinion. Most of these depressions are due to volcanoes and concentrated minerals which is why geologists go there in search of wealth. There are usually mines in and around these sites and no sign of the object that created the impact (and it certainly wouldn't just explode into fragments after burying itself into the ground).

You do realize that very same wikipage talks about evidence aside from the fact that there's a giant crater there, right?

Yeah, but it's just grasping at straws. Don't worry though.... they'll make sure to suck all the oil out of the area... but the important part is that it's a big hole in the ground caused by a meteor.
