    Re: ArmenianClub Proposal

It seems that most people are finding their way here through random searches of certain key words associated with Armenia/Armenians and international politics. As a result, we get a lot more viewers here than participants. I would like to recommend treating this place more like a serious discussion board and less like a 'chat' room. I think it will be wise to attract adults that want to discuss serious issues instead of attracting teenagers who simply want to act silly. And now, the big question: Is there any way we can disassociate this place from the Armenian singles site it's currently connected to?

Well, like I said, if we want anything done, it has to be through the admin. I would agree dissociating with the singles stuff but that is the ultimate decision of the admin. Either way, we need help, and fast.

How about disassociating with ataturk.com and "learn Turkish" websites. I see these nbanners all the time here.

for the record, this is why we're getting those ads: https://www.google.com/adsense/login...id=lBi5buWqx10

I would appreciate any input from you guys that can explain how an admin would be able to put restrictions on the Google AdSense for their domain.

Well that's up to Nimda's discretion. If it's what's pulling in the cashflow for this website, then I'm all for it. But if it's marginal, then the admin can deal with it.

                  Re: ArmenianClub Proposal

Hi guys, I just upgraded the forum and related software.

It is good to see interest in improving this forum.

Regarding the google ads and armenian singles ads. Those are a source of revenue. The revenue is rather small, but at the end of the month it is better than nothing and I can use that money to pay for some of the server cost and software costs. Thus, I don't think removing ads is a good idea. What I could do though is change the way ads are displayed, so maybe they will be shown to guests and newer users and not shown to veterans (or something along those lines)

you mentioned disassociating from armeniansingles, how about hyeclub? this forum is still a part of hyeclub.

I would be willing to consider any suggestion that could potentially turn this forum from a 10-people-at-a-time logged on to 100-200 concurrent users.

If there are turkish/offensive ads served on the forum, if you can copy the URL of the site, and send me a PM, i should be able to filter it out.
                  Welcome to the HyeClub Forum!

thanks Nimda, I like your idea about filtering the ads for veterans.

Also, do members from other Armenian forums tend to know about ours? Is there some kind of easily accessible portal in effect that has links to a multitude of Armenian forums? I already know of this one that I found through google search: http://armenianforums.com/ but perhaps such a resource should be available in a sticky post on all those forms to serve as a portal that is known by all members across all the forums and would thus promote Armenians checking out eachothers forums. Also, the example portal I used looks like it doesn't get updated too often, and just offers the links to the forums. Perhaps it could use a feature that displays some of the popular topics going on in that forum too, so that people who visit it for the first time won't feel like they have to dig for nuggets to find a good discussion.

Although my I may be biased, I think the interface of this forum is quite attractive and should draw attention from Armenians in other forums who haven't been here yet, and I think a universal portal like this on all Armenian forums would encourage them to visit.
