Non of what you say here is true. Plenty of countries thrive on tourism-so can Armenia. We dont have a ocean but we have everything else. Plenty of people who invested in Armenia did very well including my brother. There are plenty reliable charities that do great work there. If people think like your describing there wont be any childeren to make our future.

Countries thrive on tourism... doesn't mean the people are thriving. Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamiaca, etc... all poor places but somebody is making it big off tourism.

I think you're getting the picture but the wrong channel... most of the population complains about the corruption and of course you can can do well in a corrupt environment if you have money to invest. The challenge is to lift up the people who have nothing and take the general population up to a level where people are working with each other and not against each other for one goal... steady growth.

A truly capitalistic society and market led economy requires working with and competing against others. If you invest in Armenia, especially a large sum, it is likely you are creating conditions for further employment.

I wasn't talking about Artsakh and you know it. I'm talking about the fact that 90% of the diaspora has done nothing for Armenia economically. You've given money to charity that is it. Have you gone there and really invested in the country or has any one else from the Diaspora. Most people haven't and now they are awake and talk about people being traitors without knowing what is going on in Hayastan.

You personally attacked me and you know it. Artsakh's war is part of Armenia. They are made up of Armenian people and Artsakh is part of our historical land. Regardless, the two children that I personally supported, their fathers were Armenian from Armenia who fought in the Artsakh war and died and I have each supported one young girl and another young boy for six years each, young man. You are so gung ho whether I personally have gone to Armenia and the answer is yes I have gone to Armenia for three weeks, not recently but I have gone. Plus I have also sent monies to other needy people in Armenia. I was smart however not to send it by mail, but by a trusted individual so that the oligarchs or others wouldn't steal my money and it'll go right into the hands of the needy in Armenia.

Let me ask you a question. If you were not 18 or 20 years old and you were born earlier in life, and you were a young man at around 1990-1994; would you have gone to Artsakh to fight for our land in there? If I wasn't pregnant then, I would have.

In a corrupted environment or state, unfortunately even on tourism the heads of the corrrupted individuals would benefit in most respects than the needy, the poor and usually the very hard working countrymen who are working hard, sweating long hours under the sun or snow, or other needy and poor souls who cannot benefit from the riches of the state because the ones that are working on the governmental level or receiving the incoming mails in the country for instance, have stolen the monies already. The majority in our homeland are either unemployed or poor. Who is benefiting the riches and the monies that come in? The government and the people who work for the government.

Not while the mafias control all. And you said in another post that all KanadaHye said is false. One IMPORTANT point I'm going to repeat is what he said regarding all investors getting raped by the mafia. How many built factories/stores? Bought and rebuild factories/stores? If they didn't get ripped off and/or extorted, their family members were kidnapped or worse.

Armenians are wealthy and generous and the best thing we could do is invest in Armenia, where Hayastancis can figure out what is best for their economy, but in an atmosphere of prevalent curruption. i've heard many personal stories of people getting ripped off for hundreds of thousands of USD's. Where's all this money going?? The mafias are living in the EU, US and even Turkey.

Until we solve the rusty soviet system of curroption, we'll never have a free Armenia. This is the first thing we need to do in order to be able to help ourselves. If not, screw it, let's bring back the Russians or Persians and piss away our independence...for the sake of our culture, society, and heritage (see do better under odar leadership anyways).

Really? Mafias created laws to eliminate competition in the cab industry. Hotels and restaurants pay rent to mafias. The police...same, and loyal to the ruling politicians.

Service jobs ARE what we need to develop, but first destroy the mafias.

Speaking of which, why the hell has the Armenian governments sold all of our national assets to Russian companies? It's ridiculous.
