Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

Then why are the media making such a drama out of Azerbaijan getting S-300s too?

Because the S-300s that we have do not belong to us but to the Russian airbase in Gyumri.

But since we have a deal of cooperation in security with Russia, which will be reinforced this month, in case Armenia's security is endangered we will have access to it, right?

S-300 are not meant to shoot each other down.

Its anti aircraft system which will give air cover to a very high degree.
Our systems will "negate" the effect of the Azeri air superiority.

Them having it as well will negate our air force effectiveness.

I know what they are, what I meant is that Armenian, Russian and Azeri media have been talking all these two last weeks about the possibility of Azerbaijan being sold some of those systems by Russia (which it seems, as of today, to be true). I know it would be negative for our air force effectiveness, I also heard Armenia has no such aircraft this system can target, and I thought we didn't have these system in our territory. But then I read ArmeniaR1 post that we indeed have many of these systems, and Federate told me that they are in power of the Russian base in Gyumri...and I just wanted to know, if we have them too, then what it's the problem? People speaks about that Azerbaijan's acquirement of the S-300 will give them superiority over us, and will change the balance in the regions military. Yet if we also have some of these in our territory and since we have an agree with Russia on security we can use them if the case is given, then this only means Azerbaijan's purchase of S-300 would only give them some of the systems we already have

News of another death in Armenian army
                    Thu 05 August 2010 | 14:02 GMT Text size:

The murder of five soldiers at an Armenian military unit has encouraged more parents to speak out about what they believe is the murder of their sons.

Sergeant Arman Avakyan, 22, died on 16 July at a military unit in Mardakert in Nagorno-Karabakh. His parents say that the serviceman, who had served for 13 months, was killed by a young commander.

Arman Avakyan was on duty. When the commander saw that he was a few metre's from his observation point, he was aggressive towards Avakyan. They argued and the 25-year-old commander hit the soldier on the head with a heavy object that caused brain trauma and death, Avakyan's parents told Armenia Today. He is thought to have been hit with a rifle butt.

"We don't know anything yet. They say that he was pushed, fell over and hit his head on a rock. They don't even tell us the right time: they say the incident happened at 12.00, but this can't be right as there's someone who found out about it at 10.00," Avakyan's father said.

Avakyan's other son is due to be called up in September, but his parents don't want him to serve.

“My son did not even have time to see his diploma; he was to have come home to receive it. If he had been killed by an Azerbaijani, I would say that my child was at the border and died protecting the homeland, but in our case he was killed by an Armenian commander. No law is working, there is no punishment."

I was under the impression that the S-300's in Armenia are there in case of a Turkish invasion into Armenia's airspace only....now the one in Artsakh I am not sure about but if it is ours then it will come handy against their Mig-29s.

S-300s placed in Azerbajian can target any of our military aircraft within range regardless of size, performance, and speed. It can also track and shoot down missiles. If this turns out true, the location of the S-300s will say what it is really there for.

Also there are many types of S-300s
