Well they are not going to beer can the plane just because Armavia is no longer operating.
Normally the aircraft is either mothballed for later use or for sell. The military could have taken over the aircraft since the bird looks like operational. Paint job is expensive and requires a special hanger......we don't seem to have enough hangers for our military birds let alone a painting facility.

I suppose it can become military VIP bird or.....how about Airforce one.

btw, its missing the #2 engine intake cover.......hard to get to unless you have some type lift that won't put a hole in the plane. .

I always thought why don't we have hangars for our Su-25s and Mi-24s.
You know the sun is crazy here in summer and there's snow in winter so they're not protected this way.
It wouldn't cost much because we produce cement locally.
Also, Shirak and Erebuni air bases are very close to the Turkish border..not sure it's wise to leave the jets outside.

YEREVAN. – The Armed Forces of Armenia are carrying out major work to have military means that meet Western standards.

Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan on Tuesday stated the aforesaid during his talk, at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, with scholars.

“We [i.e. Armenia] have weapons that are left as an inheritance from the Soviet years,” Ohanyan said. “And today, huge works are done so we may have means that meet Western standards and [may] develop our domestic industry.”

In the minister’s words, the concept for Armenia’s military industry has been developed, and it was approved by the National Security Council of the country.

“The Military Industry Committee has been formed, which shall be the basis of our military industry,” the Armenian defense minister added.

The official portal of legal information of Russia has posted the
text of the Treaty between Russia and Armenia on granting state export
credit in the amount of $200 million for the purchase of arms.

According to the 2nd paragraph of the 1st article of the Treaty,
Armenia is obliged to pay for the purchased weapons in Russian rubles.

Thus, given the depreciation of the ruble against the dollar and
Armenian dram, the country gets a chance to acquire a lot more Russian
weapons than were planned at the time of negotiating the loan.

Different mathematical calculations indicate the benefit of Armenia
from the loan, - says Aza Mihranyan, senior researcher at the Institute
of Europe, the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"As the ruble drops against both the AMD and U.S. dollar, the increase
in the volume of procurement in value equivalent becomes inevitable.

If we consider that the ruble fluctuations do not affect the value
of Russian arms, and their price remains fixed, then here as well
Armenia benefits," told RUSARMINFO Aza Mihranyan.

According to the expert, Russia also benefits from this, because the
transition to ruble payments provides a stable income for the Russian
defense enterprises in the conditions of economic crisis.

"The price policy of the Russian defense industry is not open to
public, but one can assume that in ruble payments the prices on arms
remain more stable than in dollar terms. Just for the sake of this
stability, which is very important during the economic crisis, the
Treaty stipulates the paragraph on calculations in Russian rubles,"
stressed Aza Mihranyan.

If a year ago, when the exchange rate was approximately 40 rubles
per one dollar, $200 million amounted to 8 billion rubles, nowadays,
when the ruble is 75 rubles per dollar, $200 million amounts to 15
billion rubles.

Note: Armenia is purchasing from Russia such offensive weapons, as MLRS
"Smerch", anti-aircraft missile complexes "Igla-S", flamethrower system
TOS-1A "Buratino", the RPG-26, Dragunov sniper rifle, and armored cars
"Tiger".

I always thought why don't we have hangars for our Su-25s and Mi-24s.
You know the sun is crazy here in summer and there's snow in winter so they're not protected this way.
It wouldn't cost much because we produce cement locally.
Also, Shirak and Erebuni air bases are very close to the Turkish border..not sure it's wise to leave the jets outside.

Cement wont help when the bombs come. But i agree its better to protect them from snow/rain. Also their satelites wont see if they are inside or moved somewhere else.

After this statement i believe we should follow his rule , he has a point , one of the biggest advantages of armenia is the benefit of doubt and silence of what we really have and can do , we would do more damage to an upreared enemy to one that really knows what we can do and have the means to deflect . Let the azeri public think we cant do xxxx , that way we would kill more of them and have less deaths on our side !!!
