What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or

This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

Karabakh Pressure Group Demands Renewed Opposition Protests

    By Hovannes Shoghikian

The leader of an Armenian pressure group strongly opposed to territorial concessions to Azerbaijan demanded on Friday that former President Levon Ter-Petrosian resume anti-government rallies to thwart what he said is an impending “unacceptable” resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Ter-Petrosian and his Armenian National Congress (HAK) alliance halted their year-long campaign of street protests in Yerevan on October 17, citing the need to prevent greater Armenian concessions to Azerbaijan. He said President Serzh Sarkisian will make such concessions if he continues to be challenged by the Armenian opposition.

Zhirayr Sefilian, a hard-line nationalist activist whose Association of Armenian Volunteers is affiliated with the HAK, on Friday again took issue with the move and said Ter-Petrosian should reconsider it. “Especially considering the events of the last few weeks, I am categorically against the continuation of this tactic,” he told RFE/RL.

Sefilian referred to the November 2 declaration by the Armenian, Azerbaijan and Russian presidents that reaffirmed their support for a compromise solution to the Karabakh dispute. Such compromise would result in the liberation of at least six of the seven Azerbaijani districts around Karabakh controlled by Armenian forces.

Sefilian, who had actively participated in the 1991-1994 war with Azerbaijan, is strongly opposed to Armenian withdrawal from any of these districts, even in return for international recognition of Karabakh’s independence. He and several other opposition figures and intellectuals set up last month a new movement that will campaign for continued Armenian control of what they call “liberated territories.”

The Miatsum (Unification) National Initiative issued a statement on Friday condemning Sarkisian for signing the Moscow declaration. It claimed that the document poses a grave threat to Armenia’s national security.

“The situation has become more serious after the Moscow declaration,” said Sefilian. “If the opposition doesn’t become more active after all this, I won’t be able to understand that. But I hope that the opposition leadership will not wait for the signing of an agreement on Artsakh in Washington and will try to prevent it with appropriate actions.”

Sefilian said Miatsum will hold rallies in Yerevan if the Ter-Petrosian-led alliance refuses to end its moratorium on street protests. He said he will meet HAK leaders in the coming days to relay the group’s concerns to them.

A spokesman for the HAK, Arman Musinian, said Ter-Petrosian and his leading allies are ready to address those concerns. “I am sure that we will meet, discuss their proposal and agree on appropriate solutions,” he said.

      Bravo President Sahakyan!
      -----------------------------
President of NKR Declares – “So long as Artsakh exists, so too will Kashatagh”
      [ 10 November 2008 | 13:39 ] Karabakh |

At a meeting held over the weekend with community leaders from southern Kashatagh and the town of Berdzor, NKR President Bako Sahakyan proclaimed, “The liberated territories have existed since the early 1990’s. Today, this region is an established reality according to our Constitution. So long as Artsakh exists, so too will Kashatagh.”

He urged those in attendance not to believe the news circulating that the region’s status is temporary. The President expressed the desire that people disregard any such news so that the region can be transformed into a new reality. Such an approach would pave the way for the problems now confronting the region to be resolved quickly.

During his visit to the Kashatagh and Nor Shahumyan (Kelbajar) regions President Sahakyan promised that in the next few years development work in the two regions would be greatly increased. He noted that, “In 2009 we plan to investment more than 5 billion drams in Kashatagh development programs.”

President Sahakyan added that, “Various work projects have been implemented in Nor Shahumyan this year. At the same time studies for future programs have been carried out and most have been completed.”

While meeting with residents in Nor Shahumyan President Sahakyan stated, “We view this area as a strategic region for the country and this will be our approach in the future as well.”

          President Sahakyan is on fire!
          -----------------------------------
Sahakian Highlights Importance of Kashatagh, Shahoumian
STEPANAKERT (Presidential Press Service)--Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Bako Sahakian Tuesday gave a “state of the republic” address to local government bodies, the legislature and the judicial branch and highlighted the importance of developing and resettling the Kashatagh (Lachin) and Shahoumian districts of the Republic.

“I think close attention should be paid to the Kashatagh and Shahoumian regions. Completion of projects and the successful completion of socio-economic development projects in Kashatagh and Shahoumian are of utmost importance. This process will be under my direct supervision,” said President Sahakian.

The Karabakh leader told local government heads that the coordination of efforts between local, regional and national bodies lacked in consistency and outlined ways of improving them. He also highlighted the importance of each district to fully realize its potential in production, as well as follow up on projects.

Sahakian also highlighted the need for reforms and improvement in the agriculture industry and directed the legislature to immediately adopt relevant legislation to address the challenges and increase production.

Another challenge Sahakian discussed was the enhancement of healthcare and improving services. Building new medical facilities and improving existing ones were a top priority for the Sahakian administration and he directed the local governments to also prioritize these projects.

To facilitate the free flow of information, the president highlighted the need to expand the reach and frequency of Karabakh's national television channel, Artsakh TV.

”I call on the government to carry out appropriate measures to secure the broadcast of the national television channels of Artsakh and Armenia on the entire territory of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic by the end of 2009,” added Sahakian.

Official Yerevan has also been firing back at diplomatic distortions coming from baku and ankara. I'm very happy to see it!
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Armenia's firing back has been very coordinated in its timing it seems. It is quite an interesting phenomenon and seems to be following the track of diplomatic shrewdness that Armenia has been engaging in already for a long time. It's a good status quo to have because slipping up in these matters equals suicide. I am happy to see Armenia has some degree of confidence in the kind of options proposed by their recent statements.

Time will let us know more and more about what will become of this. I wonder how the recent coup by Brzezinski in America will play in these matters, he seems intent on re-establishing America in the Caucasus and I wonder what kind of power he could have against Turkey to bring them under a radically NATO orbit again.

There may be bigger chess pieces being moved in the region than Armenia and Azerbaijan in the near future. I'm keeping my eyes peeled.

They must be having serious problems.

                    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aydin Mirzazade: "We must take care of each of our soldiers"

"Army has such a complex atmosphere that tragic events sometimes occur there", said Aydin Mirzazade, deputy chairman of the parliamentary commission on defense and security, commenting on the loss of two Azerbaijani soldiers in the past two days.

He said this occurs because soldiers come from different families, which have their own traditions.

"In this case, unfortunately, not all soldiers have a good health, which results in tragic events. The past two cases are connected with the weak health of soldiers.

At the same time, these events are being seriously investigated now. After main details are taken into account, it will be possible to say something definite about the fact.

At the same time, we must take care of each soldier. Each family, which knows that their son will serve in the army, must raise up both physically and morally health fighter", said Mirzazade.
