Arsen Galstyan: problems emerged as soon as we arrived in Baku
      February 2, 2011 -

Arsen Galstyan of Russia, silver winner of international judo tournament in Baku, recollected his trip to Azerbaijan.

“Problems emerged as soon as we landed in Baku. When the airport employee read my family name, she called senior officials. Several men approached and took my passport, leaving us waiting. I was told that I will not be allowed into the city, as they can’t guarantee my security. I was accompanied to room in the airport where I had to wait for the flight back,” Yerkramas quoted Galstyan as saying.

“Other sportsmen from our team decided that they will not participate in the tournament if I’m not allowed,” he said.

Galstyan, however, was permitted to take part in the competition.

The stadium was overcrowded. When the announcer said “Galstyan”, the audience grew wild. All my fights were accompanied by a hum of obscene words. In the semifinals I had to fight an Azerbaijani sportsman. The fight started with usual bellow which, however, was replaced by deathly silence when I threw him down,” Galstyan said.
“During the final fight against a wrestler from Uzbekistan the fans were shouting fiercely, supporting my rival,” he said.

      Suckers

Commandos: should Karabakh war resume, Armenia would conquer more territories

              January 27, 2011 - 15:06 AMT 11:06 GMTPanARMENIAN.Net - Should Karabakh war resume,
Armenia could suffer losses at the initial stage. Yet the equilibrium would soon be restored, with
Armenian side returning territories lost and conquering more of them, according
to the hero of Karabakh war, major general Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan (Commandos).

As he told a news conference in Yerevan, Azerbaijan is currently strong,
yet the Armenian army has good knowledge of military activities strategy in Karabakh conflict zone.

Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan went on to speak about the issues in the Armenian army,
noting that, society problems naturally influence the situation in the army.
In conclusion, Commandos urged for addressing the current issues in the armed forces of Armenia.
Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

He makes it look like Armenia is itching for the baboon to make a move. I don't think this is the case at all.
Even if they have a plan to take over more territories, i don't see it going too well without giving alot of casualties, I dunno, maybe i'm just a pessimist.

Well according to some observers/analysts of the situation, the time factor favors azerbaijan, specifically when we speak of the demographic factor. When Commandos says take over more territories he means those near Artsakh, and the rest of Shahumian, not baku or other sites in the east. I do think baku will be a target of Armenian missiles though, the Defense Minister hinted as much recently.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

For now, I think time is on our side. We just have to wait until the oil runs out (peak oil 2012) and be prepared for a new war. Furthermore, the whole world (geopolitics, etc) changes every 5-10 years. It is hard predict how everything will look like in 10 years. Let's hope for an independent Kurdistan, a pro-Russian Georgia (a pro-Armenian Russia) and a stronger India, China and Iran.
