7 Azerbaijani servicemen killed at a military unit - UPDATE

Azerbaijani Defense Ministry and the country’s Military Prosecutor Office have issued a joint statement in connection with the incident in a military unit.

Seven Azerbaijani servicemen were killed at an incident in the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s military unit in the Murovdag Mountain at 09:00 on Feb.20. The Military Prosecutor’s Office and Defense Ministry’s officials are investigating the fact at the scene. The criminal case has been filed.

As a result of the incident 19 year old Naib Guliyev (Beylagan Region Military Commissariat), 20 year old Javid Javadzade (Mingachevir Region Military Commissariat), 20 year old Nurlan Suanverdiyev (Agdam Region Military Commissariat), 19 year old Ramazan Khojberov (Balakan Region Military Commissariat), 20 year old Afgan Karimov (Balakan Region Military Commissariat), 19 year old Ahmad Huseynov (Agjabadi Region Military Commissariat ), 20 year old Zakir Guliyev (Yasamal District Military Commissariat) were killed.

Murovdag is located roughly 430 km west from Baku.

An investigation group has been created, and its being led by the Azerbaijani Deputy Military Prosecutor Shafahat Imranov in connection with the fact, the Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor’s Office told Trend.

The investigation group includes investigators on serious matters of the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Military Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutor-criminalist and employees of the Ganja Region Military Prosecutor’s Office.

Seven Azerbaijani servicemen were killed at an incident in the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry’s military unit in the Murovdag Mountain. A soldier shot his fellow soldiers at 09:00 on Feb.20, a military source told Trend.

The Prosecutor’s Office’s officials iare investigating the fact at the scene. The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has not yet issued official information over the case.

Seven soldiers killed


Seven Azerbaijani soldiers were killed at an unnamed military unit yesterday.

A criminal case has been opened for the "Premeditated murder of two or more people" under Azerbaijani Criminal Code Article 120.2.7, the Defence Ministry press service reported.

Investigators from the Defence Ministry and Military Prosecutor's Office are at the scene.

The incident took place at 09.40 (05.40 GMT) on Sunday, the ministry said, but did not disclose the location.

Unconfirmed reports say that a soldier went on the rampage in a unit in Goy Gol District in western Azerbaijan.

The Defence Ministry has named the dead, who were all young conscripts from different parts of the country, as Naib Fakhraddin oglu Guliyev (born in 1992 and called up from Beylagan in April 2010), Javid Vakil oglu Javadzada (born in 1991, called up from Mingachavir in January 2010), Nurlan Radfel oglu Suanverdiyev (born in 1991, called up from Agdam in April 2010), Ramazan Abdulla oglu Khojberov (born in 1992, called up from Balakan in April 2010), Afgan Yashar oglu Karimov (born in 1991, called up from Balakan in October 2009), Ahmad Ahmadali oglu Huseynov (born in 1992, called up from Agjabadi in January 2010) and Zakir Etibar oglu Guliyev (born in 1991, called up from Baku's Yasamal in January 2010).

The last report of multiple killings in the Azerbaijani army came in January 2010 when four officers were killed by two soldiers at a military unit in Dashkasan District.

An Azerbaijani soldier was killed recently by a fellow conscript at a unit in Nakhchivan. The Defence Ministry said on 3 February that the death was the result of careless handling of a weapon.

Soldier of Azerbaijani Army killed

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Armenian Armed Forces violated ceasefire again which killed one more Azerbaijani soldier. APA reports that the incident occurred near Borsunlu village of Goranboy region. Soldier of the Azerbaijani army, Tural Murad Huseynov, 21, was killed as result of fire opened by Armenians.

Deputy Spokesman for Defense Ministry Teymur Abdullayev confirmed the fact to APA.

Huseynov was called to the military service from Neftchala Region Military Commissariat in October 2009.

One more Azerbaijani soldier injured as a result of the ceasefire violation by Armenians

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov - APA. One more soldier of Azerbaijani army was injured as a result of the ceasefire violation by Armenian armed forces, press service of the Defense Ministry told APA.

The incident was recorded near Ashaghi Ebdulrahmanli village of Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli region. As a result of the incident, Hikmat Agha Rzazadeh, born in 1992, drafted from Jalilabad region was injured. He was hospitalzied.
