Re: Nagorno-Karabagh: Military Balance Between Armenia & Azerbaijan
Sorry, I meant the SU-27, compared to most modern fighter, excels at those altitudes.Originally posted by Eddo211 View PostNot true....as altitude increase air density decrease (among other changes) so in order to generate the same lift as you did at sea level the aircraft has to either fly at faster true airspeed (same indicated airspeed in the xxxxpit) or fly at higher angle of attack, or have a higher wing area.
Indeed. The SU-27 performance in low altitudes is not effected by its high altitude capabilities and can still deliver whats needed......under the hands of an experienced Armenian pilot it will bring hell from above to the enemy.
Your right, here is room to climb, but there is no room to for the airplanes to conduct complex air combat maneuvers at those altitudes. An air war over Armenia would be like a shootout in a bar. Extremely messy, chaotic and unorganized. It should be no problem at all to climb to any altitude within Armenia's border if the correct manoeuver is used......Armenian pilots would be more effective if they stayed low to the ground against Azeris since Turkey is assumed covered by Russian pilots. However I agree with you, I would be very supprised if we actually bought SU-27s.
