Snakes attack secondary school in Azerbaijan

Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – APA. Snakes attacked a secondary school in Azerbaijan’s Gabala region, resident of Mamayli village Vugar Garagozlu told APA.

He said that lessons were interrupted in Mamayli village secondary school, as 60cm snakes attacked the school building and schoolyard. Garagozlu said residents killed over 20 snakes, but snakes continued to attack the school. He also said that teachers and parents had appealed the education department several times, but no measures were taken.
“We, parents of the children studying at this school are afraid to allow our children attend classes,” he said.

Director of Gabala Education Department Ogtay Hajiyev confirmed to APA that there was such a problem in the village. He said the lessons had not been interrupted.
“Under my instructions, the school was treated with mordant at the end of last week. The pupils have been attending classes since May 4. There is no threat there,” he said.

AZERI’S MARASMIC APPROACH TO ART

The political strategy of the official Baku on the social-cultural life of the state seems to have some marasmic coloring.

Azeri mass media reports that the concerts of famous Georgian singer Nino Katamadze scheduled on 30-31 May in Baku might be postponed. The reasons of postponing the singer’s concerts are quite funny and some unusual. The Azeri journalists have found a song by Katamadze devoted to Armenia – “Oley”, where the singer says “Yerevan”. So called investigative journalists found out that the singer performed in Armenia in the frames of Jazz festival in Yerevan and devoted a song to the city. For them, the Azeri, this is a serious barrier to postpone the concert.

After the state philharmonic orchestra of Azerbaijan has been informed, they started a serious investigation saying if the news is true the concerts should be postponed.

Azerbaijan has blocked the draft bill on recognition of Kosovo at the 36th session of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

Arab press says Azerbaijan has also opposed accession of Kosovo to the International Monetary Fund. Serbia welcomed this position, 1news.az reported.

Kosovo has been recognized by 60 countries, including 57 OIC members. The current draft was introduced by Saudi Arabia, the second state after UAE, which recognized independence of Kosovo.

Serbian authorities fear that Saudi Arabia may provoke a new wave of Kosovo’s recognition by the Arab community.

Iran has no right to teach Islamic solidarity lesson to Azerbaijan: MP

Azerbaijani member of parliament protests against statements by Iranian officials condemning Israeli president's upcoming visit to Azerbaijan.

"Iran has no right to teach Islamic solidarity lesson to Azerbaijan. Because Azerbaijan has done its utmost for Islamic solidarity. But Azerbaijani people will never Iran's stance when our lands were occupied by Armenia," member of parliament Ganira Pashayeva said at a parliamentary meeting.

Iranian officials have made statements condemning Israeli President Shimon Peres' visit to Azerbaijan to take place in late June.

She said Iranian media seeks to downgrade Azerbaijan. So, Azerbaijani parliament must provide a serious feedback to this issue.

Pashayeva said Azerbaijan respects internal affairs of other states including neighbors.

"Of course, neighbors must respect Azerbaijan's internal affairs, with what countries it builds relations and invitation to which heads of government to visit country," she said.

She said Iran which advocates Islam solidarity, has not closed borders with Armenia and Iranian officials make frequent trips to the enemy country. "Iran seeks to eliminate Armenia's blockade by providing economic assistance to it. We are very sorry about it. Therefore, Iranian officials have no right to interfere with Azerbaijan's internal affairs," Pashayeva said.

Azerbaijan by improving it's bilateral relations with Israel is placing it's self at odds with both Iran and the Arabs.
