Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    Biased European Stochholm Peace Institute

Is there one organization in Europe which is unbiased?

Those, who prepared the list of arms importers, have not “noticed” Azerbaijan
    March 14, 2011 - 18:17 AMT 14:17 GMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has published another data on weapons imports.

India topped the list of arms importers in the period from 2006 to 2010. It is followed by China, South Korea, Pakistan and Greece.

Strangely enough, Azerbaijan, which is the initiator of the armament drive in South Caucasus, is not among the leaders of arms importers. However, the paces of arming in Azerbaijan are impressing.

Basically, the countries of Near East, specifically, Turkey and Israel, are attracted for cooperation with Azerbaijan. There are also CIS countries - Ukraine and Belarus - among those supplying arms to Azerbaijan.

Besides, the 2011 state budget of Azerbaijan envisages a growth in the country’s military expenditures to bring them to 2.5bln mantas ($3.1bln) against 1.6bln mantas in 2010. 1.1bln manats will be spent for weapons modernization.

It is not strange that Azerbaijan prefers not to conceal its arms import and intention to produce weapons. With this, Azerbaijan tries to convince its people that they will win in case of a new war in Karabakh. Meanwhile, Baku again forgets that without a professional army, which Azerbaijan lacks, all these arms will become a pile of metal. In this case, the international organization’s neutrality is strange, while they are designed to ensure security in the South Caucasus.

Is not it high time for these structures to call things by their proper names instead of spending time for making declarative statements and peace calls?

Otherwise, there is an impression that the mission of organizations like OSCE is not prevention of military threats, but liquidation of consequences of military confrontations which had already taken place.

It is because of people like you and Mos that Armenia is disregarded. Not just on this subject (the vile cheek of you, attacking the only credible media left in Armenia) but on everything you touch. Actually, that is giving you too much credit. Those most deserving of blame are the cowards who allow the likes of you a platform to shout out your empty-headed thoughts. In a normal society, pathetic sorts like you wouldn't be given the time of the day. Armenia will get the future it deserves, a future the cowards have enabled.

Worry about Scotland, and your own neck of the woods. The last thing we need is for you to be giving advice and lectures on how Armenians should think and act.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

I can't sort out what overwhelming evidence of bias could have you all so upset. Is this an instance of condemning the whole media outlet out of disagreement with one or two pieces?

Can someone articulate the cause for concern more clearly please?

You, and all Armenians like you, go endlessly on and on whingeing about how the world owes Armenia a living, about how unfairly Armenia has been treated by everyone, about how Armenia is so important andwonderful that everyone should know and care about its problems and solve them, while at the same time you throw your scorn and contempt over everyone in that world. Just go live under a rock, and complain silently to yourself about its weight.

Re: Exposing ArmeniaNow, biased Western-backed political anti-Armenian media outlets.

This topic serves as a counter-balance in an increasingly hostile environment Armenia faces. We Armenians should clearly understand the anti-Armenian attitudes of some media outlets, or at least the political goals which they strive to obtain, which are not always for the best of our country.

Especially with entities like Radio Free Liberty (Eurasianet), which is purely made to manipulate people (as if it's independent) to the benefit of the foreign policy of the United States of America. This is not the case with Russia Today, as it doesn't advocate itself as in "independent" media outlet, trying to bring "democracy" and "freedom" to other countries. This is the main and biggest difference.

Another good example is this biased article, on Iran and Azerbaijan, where they never mention the anti-Iranian policy of Azerbaijan and their claims of Northern-Iran. In fact, these media are the supporters of most of our enemies and the attackers of most of our allies, which make it double as dangerous. It's by reading the media possesed by the United States of America and other Western entities, you understand and learn about their foreign policy and their future goals. Most of their foreign policy and goals are clearly very dangerous for Armenia and the future of our Republic.

              @Armanan,
No need to discuss with Stevie Simply, we all know who he is and what he stands for.

Also note how ArmeniaNow calls our current government a "regime" and mentions our president often as "Serzh", instead of Mr. Sargsyan.

In the eyes of tigranakert and mos and armanen, one disagreement is one too many. They require absolute agreement, no divergence however small, however correctly held, however well explained.

You like to project. None of us require absolute agreement. There are divergencies which you fail (willingly to see), and you are the last person to speak about explanations as your style is to belittle, rant, and talk down to others.

John Hughes, who runs ArmeniaNow, is an agent of influence. Just wanted to add that on top of what Tigranakert already wrote.

That's not helpful. Just because someone's not from Armenia, they can't offer an opinion? Perhaps this "us against the world" is partly attributable to our own automatic distrust and scorn for all odars.

Thanks, but I think this was more of a series of conclusions about the sources with fragments of an explanation here and there rather than explanations. :-/

I hope that's not the case because to the extent that we want to inform and educate people, we need to exhibit more patience.

In 2008, ArmeniaNow was the only media outlet in Armenia to oppose the media restrictions imposed after Sarkisian declared his State of Emergency. Sarkissian had essentially closed down every media outlet by requiring that they publish only official press releases and nothing else. I recall that ArmenaNow left its pages blank rather than comply, as well as releasing a strongly worded condemnation of the restrictions. Since that time, because it had dared to oppose those in power, ArmeniaNow has been earmarked for destruction by the Armenian establishment. This is the reason behind this tigranakert hatefest.
