Standard procedure in vietnam for ambush --- find the enemy path, lay mines on that path, machine guns on each side of path, wait till enemy is on path, shoot at mines (not enemy) to knock enemy down, then shoot enemy.
Identify path, let enemy use path, then sabatoge path.
Personnel mines unless steped on directly aren't going to blow enemy that far, just knock them down. That's when rifle or machine gun does the work. After, you have to confirm the kill.
Bright explosions look bigger than they are. Looks like bombs from planes, but actually personnel mines.
To me, it looks like standard ambush by guys who knew what they were doing to guys who used that trail before and simply got got by surprise --- ambush ----

Insofar as the second video ---- that's actually good to see IMO. That's what our side wants and needs ... To draw them out in force!!! The more, the merrier!!!.
Those are the heartless butchers WE are HUNTING.

The first video is actually led by Hezbollah. It took place a few weeks ago in Damascus countryside. A total of 175 (!) rebels died in that single ambush.

Don't quite understand why Russia doesn't assist with intell gathering/enemy movement. Relatively cheap yet invaluable.
Also with judiciously used proper ordinance, they could go along way to stop the innocents from this terror.

7 KILLED AS ASSAD SUPPORTERS, OPPONENTS FIGHT IN LEBANESE CITY

PanARMENIAN.Net - Seven people were killed in the northern Lebanese
city of Tripoli on Friday, March 21, in fighting between supporters
and opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, security and
medical sources said, according to Reuters.

Tripoli, like much of Lebanon, is divided along sectarian lines and
is only 30 miles from the Syrian border. Its majority Sunni Muslims,
who back the Syrian rebels, often clash with the minority from Assad's
Alawite sect.

Four civilians, including an elderly man, were shot dead by snipers
on Friday, they said. Eleven others were wounded.

Three people who were wounded in earlier clashes died, including two
gunmen who were hit in overnight clashes between fighters from the
Sunni district of Bab al-Tabbaneh and the Alawite neighborhood of
Jebel Mohsen, the sources said.

Lebanon's population is deeply divided over the Syrian war. Shi'ite
militant and political movement Hezbollah and its allies support
Assad while many of the country's Sunnis back the revolt.

Tripoli's Sunnis and Alawites have clashed sporadically for decades
but the Syrian conflict has worsened tensions, with each side accusing
the other of using the city as a base for sending fighters and weapons
in and out of Syria.

Lebanon's parliament gave a newly-formed cabinet a vote of confidence
on Thursday, ending almost a year of political deadlock.

But the country suffers regular car bombings and rocket attacks,
as well as incursions by the Syrian army in pursuit of rebels who
move across the border.

There are very serious developments happening in Kesab (Armenian village) in Latakia right at the Turkish border. Rebels (including Al Qaeda) under cover of Turkish border guards have attacked the village and its surroundings and the army has now sent reinforcements. The Syrian Army has evacuated most civilians to Latakia city where they are being provided supplies and shelter. Battles are ongoing.

Emir of Al-Nusra (Al-Qaeda) has been killed.

Once again the Syrian army has proved it is incapable of protecting civilians and of organising any credible defenses against rebel attacks. If this report is true, it can't even stop penetration through the few parts of Syria's borders it still does hold.


Kessab Entirely Emptied as Clashes Rage in Area

KESSAB, Syria (A.W.)—The predominantly Armenian-populated town of Kessab has been emptied after rebel forces attacked the region in a bid to control strategic points in the area.

Kessab was under fire over the past several days from gunmen entering the region from the Turkish border. By March 22, most of the town’s population had taken refuge in Latakia.

According to reports, the majority of Kessab and its surrounding villages is currently under the control of rebels, while the Syrian army maintains control over certain key positions.

“According to a military source, units of the armed forces have since morning been directing fatal strikes to the terrorist groups which infiltrated the border from Turkey in Kassab area, inflicting heavy losses upon them,” reported the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) on March 23.

Perched in the northwestern corner of Syria, near the border with Turkey, Kessab had, until very recently, evaded major battles between the army and rebels. Many Syrian Armenians had taken refuge there because of the relative calm in the area over the past three years.

Several Armenians unable to leave town

LATAKIA, Syria (A.W.)—Around 400 families from Kessab have taken refuge in Latakia following attacks on their town, while the fate of several individuals who have stayed behind remains unclear, the Armenian Weekly has learned.

“Many Armenian families are staying with relatives and friends, while others have sought refuge in the Armenian Church and the church’s hall,” said Syrian Armenian community activist Nerses Sarkissian during a phone interview with Weekly editor Khatchig Mouradian.

“The Aleppo Armenian Prelacy as well as the Red Crescent are providing relief and assistance to these families in Latakia,” Sarkissian added.

Rebels engage in robbery and desecration

Rebels who have entered Kessab are desecrating churches, pillaging houses, and destroying government buildings, Sarkissian told the Weekly. A few Syrian Armenians have been unable to leave Kessab, and their fate is unclear, he added.

Sarkissian underlined that the rebels came from the Turkish side of the border and are receiving support from the Turkish military. He noted that the injured among them are being transported back to Turkey to receive medical attention.

Assad ‘reassures’ Aram Catholicos

Syria’s ambassador to Lebanon visited Catholicos Aram I in Antelias on March 22, conveying to him Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s assurances that peace will be restored in Kessab.

A delegation of priests left Antelias for Latakia on March 23 to assess needs and express the Catholicosate’s solidarity with the displaced population of Kessab.

Turkey downs Syrian fighter jet

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed reports that the Turkish military had shot down Syrian fighter jet. The fighter jet crashed in Kessab. According to Ankara, it came under fire after crossing the Turkish border.
