Russia to target Turkey with anti-aircraft missiles

Russia has begun installing a new state-of-the-art anti-aircraft weapon system in its southern military region with an eye toward targeting Turkey in response to a NATO missile defense shield outpost that was recently established in East Anatolia, daily Hürriyet reported.

The installation will be completed by the end of this year, said Russian Col. Igor Gorbul, adding that the S-400 anti-aircraft missiles were capable of destroying all types of airplanes, as well as ultra-stratospheric and ballistic missiles.

Turkish-Russian tensions rose last week after Ankara forced down a Syrian passenger plane en route from Moscow to Damascus on suspicions that it was carrying weapons, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov moved to defuse tensions by saying the country’s bilateral relationship would not be damaged by the incident.

Russia installing S-400 anti-aircraft missiles to target Turkey

Russia is installing an advanced anti-aircraft missile system in its southern military region in reaction to Turkey’s deployment of a NATO missile system, a report says.

Russian Col. Igor Gorbul said the army will complete the installation of S-400 anti-aircraft missiles by the end of this year, the Turkish daily Hurriyet reported on Wednesday.

Gorbul also stated that the new missiles can destroy ultra-stratospheric and ballistic missiles and all types of airplanes.

NATO’s missile system has been established in Turkey’s East Anatolia region.

The Hurriyet report comes several days after Turkish fighter jets forced a Syrian passenger plane heading to Damascus from Moscow to land in the capital Ankara.

The aircraft carried a group of Russian nationals among the passengers.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said the aircraft was grounded based on information that it might be carrying “certain equipment in breach of civil aviation rules.”

However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, “There were, of course, no weapons on the plane and could not have been any. There was a cargo on the plane that a legal Russian supplier was sending in a legal way to a legal customer.”

Russian envoy: foreign military bases in Afghanistan arouse questions

    September 21, 2012 - 09:07 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia wants to know what is the purpose of foreign
military bases that will remain in Afghanistan after the completion of
the U.S.-led antiterrorism operation in 2014, Russia's UN envoy Vitaly
Churkin said, according to RIA Novosti.

`Contradictory statements that foreign troops will be withdrawn from
Afghanistan in 2014, but the foreign military bases will remain there
raise a number of questions,' Churkin said.

NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) plans to hand
over responsibility for security in Afghanistan to the Afghan
leadership by the end of 2014, as decided at the 2010 NATO summit in
    Lisbon.

Churkin said that if the antiterrorism operation was completed in
Afghanistan then the purpose to keep foreign military bases there
would be different and Russia wanted to know the aim for maintaining
    the bases.

`If the fight against terrorism continues [after 2014], the UN
Security Council will have to extend the mandate for this operation,'
    the diplomat added.

The international coalition in Afghanistan has lost more than 330
troops killed so far in 2012, according to ISAF. The foreign troop
contingents are scheduled to withdraw by the end of 2014.

From and Azeri source: Everyone better consult with Putin...actually, Azerbaijan better watch out

Baku. Anakhanim Hidayaova – APA-Economics. Russian President Vladimir Putin considers that, any decision on Caspian Sea must be passed on the basis of consensuses of Caspian 5 countries, said Yuri Ushakov, an advisor to Putin on foreign policy, APA reports citing Russian media.

Interpreting the outcomes of 29th Russia-EU summit, held on June 3-4, Ushakov noted that, EU’s urgent position on Transcaspian gas pipeline obliged Putin to explain the legal condition around the Caspian Sea: “Any decision on Caspian Sea must be passed on the basis of consensuses of Caspian 5 countries. Otherwise, these decisions will be illegitime. EU must take this point into consideration”.

At this point Iran and Armenia have good relations but if the west wins and puts another stoog in charge there then our relations will be unclear at best. The west supports our enemy the turk and iran is its competitor so having Iran in western hands could be disasterous to Armenia. Sure with Georgia back in the Russian circle we will enhance our security and perhaps economy to but we willno longer have any other partner in the region besides the russians thus we will be even less independent then we are now -which is not independent anyways but i think u get my point.
In the situation that I am describing no state will exist in the Caucasus, Russia will just anax the whole territory and be done with it. Like I said a very crazy idea.
