Am glad to see Serj win . I know it seems like more of the same BUT he seems like the only one that won't sell the country for a dollar or a promise .
Watched the Hovanisian PR and had trouble telling him from virtually any American politician . Promise you anything and everything . Again , he struck me as smoke & mirrors all the way . It's easy to promise the poor , it's easy to promise the elderly , it's easy to promise the hungry .
If Armenia wants a billion dollars today or 10 billion dollars by the weekend that is no problem . All Armenia needs to do is tell America they are ready to take America's lead and we can have brand new freshly printed money FAST !
I am relieved Serj won .

Perchance you have misread me . I can face change . I find change desirable from the undesirable things taking place today .
My concern is that those candidates who spoke of change , and clearly defined objectives either seemed to be Trojan horses groomed by outside forces or would negotiate with the enemy and other forces to obtain their prosperity goals .
In my opinion this offer of prosperity is the " carrot " that the wrong side tries to " lure " us with !
I think even the best intentioned of the candidates would succumb to the EXTREME hardball politics and the big hitters playing that ball .
Serj is showing to be exceptional !
In his term look how far we've come . Actually surprising advances , considering the situation .
I know the oligarch thing is ugly and debilitating . My fear is the man who comes in to clean house of the oligarch problem is the one who brings in western ambitions which is even worse than our oligarchies by a long shot .
We are hamstrung right now, we can't move to fast at this moment .
But we can understand what needs be changed and identify the actions we need to take in preparation to make these changes , this we can do now .
If the operation kills the patient ...

Serzh Sargsyan ready to meet Raffi Hovannisian

PanARMENIAN.Net - At Feb 20 rally in Yerevan’s Liberty Square, former Armenian presidential candidate, Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian will say whether he met with president-elect Serzh Sargsyan.

“Mr Hovannisian is a man of principle, he is a true patriot. He won’t lead his people to new challenges. Instead, he will offer a civilized method of struggle,” Heritage party member Anahit Bakhshyan told a press conference.

Presidential spokesman Armen Arzumanyan, in turn, noted that Serzh Sargsyan stands ready to meet with Raffi Hovannisian.

“The president of the country is always ready to meet with the leaders of the political forces. Now, too, the president stands ready to meet with Raffi Hovannisian,” Mr Arzumanyan told Panorama.am.

On Feb 19, Mr Hovannisian gave president-elect Serzh Sargsyan one day to admit his mistake before the law and the Armenian people.

“He will receive people’s forgiveness in that case. People have won, every one knows this. I hope Serzh Sargsyan will admit my victory and the victory of Armenian people,” Heritage leader said.

Otherwise, the party leader expressed readiness to hold a rally at Liberty Square and keep it till the end.

He further said he will possibly address the court with a demand for election recount.

Typical politition indeed. No class or dignity. Just the kind of redneck you would expect to find in many places across the USA. Right or wrong does not matter to these people-the only thing that matters is if they win or make a couple of dollars. You can tell a lot about a mans character by looking at how he handles defeat.

If this is going to be a repeat of 2008, it's going to turn off many people. I disagree with Raffi announcing himself President-elect, we can't know that and every poll before the elections projected Serge to win yet he is claiming overwhelming victory. He should have instead called for annulments or recounts or to hold new elections.

The rally itself is disappointing. Raffi's mandate as opposition leader is stronger than LTP (he actually got more votes than that scum did in 2008) yet there's only max 10,000 people at his rally with observers saying 5,000.
