Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)
1] What you CAN NOT post.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene
You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)
The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!
2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.
This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.
3] Keep the focus.
Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.
4] Behave as you would in a public location.
This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.
5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.
Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.
6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.
Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.
7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.
- PLEASE READ -
Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.
8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)
If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Re: Presidential elections 2008 in Armenia
Commenting on the sixth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States, “Hayk” notes the fact that many U.S. security officials were “responsible” enough to step down in view of their failure to avert the tragedy. “In Armenia, however, they not only fail to resign but aspire to higher posts. The posts of defense minister, prime minister and even president of the republic,” the paper says in an apparent reference to Serzh Sarkisian, who was Armenia’s national security minister during the October 1999 shootings in parliament. It recalls that among those demanding Sarkisian’s resignation were senior members of the Republican Party who are now “tools in his hands.”
“Levon Ter-Petrosian’s nomination for the Armenian presidency could introduce a political debate into the upcoming election campaign,” editorializes “Aravot.” “With his ideas he would markedly differ from all pro-government and opposition candidates. Incidentally, the latter would have to act in a united front because in essence they are carriers of the same ideology. Chances are that the first president’s personal integrity and patriotism could contribute to the dismantling of the current system. A system in which corruption and embezzlement are organized on the state level.”

LOL You don't know what a mess you're getting into because tasver@s tchapazant shad yen!
I found the following somehow "pertinent," yet with a sense of humor.
we rented our apartment to americans because they pay more for rent than locals do. i am sad to say that it was the biggest mistake. i was reminded at how uncaring, cold, and curt the west can make you, thus my tenants. they will be leaving the apartment soon, and...today, arthur and i will try to sort out the apartment situation and look for a new tenant who either knows how to say TSAVET DANEM or has learned how to say it through their experiences in a culture that still respects human interaction.
On a more serious note:
The dual citizenship should be an instrument that facilitates the integration of the Diaspora with Armenia; however, by allowing Diasporan Armenians to vote, we may be taking the risk of making it an instrument to divide the two, as our realities, therefore our priorities regarding certain issues, are different. What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.

Artsakh,
You know it is just too easy to seat there and criticize. Sounds like you have got it all figured out and have great alternative out there. Who do you think will do a better job? I know that both Robert and Serj are not Saints. To be honest, if you expect that we will have exceptional president or government in Armenia whit in next generation or two, then you are a big dreamer. From your post I have got an impression that you are saying here that you are closely tied to homeland (either live there or emigrated not long ago), hence you should know better than anybody else. Well, if this is the case, then you should admit that we inherited massive corruption at all levels from commies and it is not going to disappear in the near future. It will always be present in Armenia just like it is everywhere else in the world, so we need to just face it. Don’t get me wrong, I am not justifying corruption in any ways. What I am failing to see is: how somebody from current or potentials candidates can drastically minimize it. Just name the person. Amota, hangarts Levony anun@ ch tas. It is rather stupid to credit the victory in the war to the person that was about to trade every single drop of blood of our great martikner with the single signature.

corruption and politics go together like hand in glove, whether its the US or Zimbabwe. Corruption will always exist in every country of the world no matter how prosperous it is. However, even with corruption, there exist degrees, and whats going on in Armenia today is off the meter. Where have you heard that a defense minister takes the limited resources of the country to go to monte carlo, gamble money down the drain thats not even his (when, at the same time, there are people who barely survive on armenian cheese and bread), get thrown in jail, and then use the same people's money to get bailed out? Do armenians want such a low life scum bag to represent them on the international arena?
His notorious brother own 12 million in real estate in california. Bottom line is why isn't that money being invested in armenia? Someone who has assets, family ties, and connections to foreign lands cannot be trusted with leading armenia. bottom line is, when the s h i t hits the fan, he can escape to california. If you want to be president of armenia, your EVERYTHING must be tied to the land. serzh sarkisyan is not only a horrible leader, but he's a worthless human being. therefore, speaking or glorifying him is extra.
the way the system is set up in armenia today, even the most patriotic armenian cannot operate under such circumstances. corruption is off the meter. mafia style shoot outs taking place in broad daylight. police harrasment of people. warlords taking over a specific area and declaring this mountain and that tree as his, etc..
You are not very familiar with der petrosyans activities with regards to the karabakh movement, it seems. why don't you go research the "karabakh committee". Der petrosyan displayed brilliant politics and under his rule Armenia, for the first time in its history in a long time was able to not lose, but gain territory.

“Approach anyone on the street and mention Serzh Sarkisian. There will be three main associations: corruption, Monte Carlo, [his notorious brother] Sashik.
I understand... You should venerate the Treasonous for one "good" reason but the enemy of your "enemy" cannot necessarilly be your good friend.Last edited by Lucin; 09-12-2007, 07:33 AM.

Hayrikian, Baghdasarian, Hovanisian and Petrosian types are being kept around Armenia by foreign forces that are trying to drastically change the geopolitical landscape of the Republic.
And regarding me and my relations to the Armenian Republic, had you known me in person, you would be eating your stupid words
Your pathetic and feable attempt at making excuses for the above mentioned men clearly reveals your low "poghotsayin" intellect and lack of honesty.
Talking about honesty, did we all miss the part where Artsakh is "making excuses" for Baghdasarian and Hovanisian?
Does "Psychological Projection" ring a bell?
Another post of interest to anybody who wears - occasionally or not - the psychologist's hat?
The question is: When will Armenian replace Hitler as a text-book case in the study od Psychosis?
Artsakh,
I don't think that you have completely answered aray's question: "Who do you think will do a better job?"
I don't necessarily share your views on certain issues and I had a couple of questions; unfortunately, I will have to postpone them because, I'm afraid that the psychotic bully that is Armenian may try to manipulate and confuse the situation.Last edited by Siamanto; 09-12-2007, 10:54 AM.What if I find someone else when looking for you? Like I said, the way the system is set up today, even if the most patriotic armenian were to take the seat of president, he would not be able to operate under such circumstances. talanum, utum, yev khmoom-en joghovurdi hashvin. Next time you're in armenia, just stroll a few miles outside yerevan, you'll see what i'm talking about.
As far as an individual, i don't see armenia's future tied to 1 individual. Rather, if the rule of law exists, then and only then will Armenia go forward rapidly. if the rule of law exists, armenia would be the greatest country ever to live in. but without the rule of law, armenia will remain backward no matter how many multi-million you invest there and no matter how may high rise buildings you put up. and thus far, the current authorities have failed in establishing the rule of law in the country, and its time for them to step down. serje replacing robo is just the continuation of the same regime.
