I wouldn't do it if it's copyrighted material.
Agreed. It just becomes a habit to know which letter to use the more you write it. There are rules for ր and ռ for example («ն»-էն առաջ «ռ» կու գայ with possible exceptions) but most of these do not have rules.

P.S. If you know the Eastern Armenian pronunciations, you can try to say the words that way in your head and based on that, choose the right letter )

My problem is knowing when to use all those letters that sound the same (in Western Armenian). For example, the proper spelling of the Armenian word "mud" is ցեխ but ց and ձ sound similar and I forget which to use. Is there a rule for this, Federate?

I imagine this comes a bit easier to speakers of Eastern Armenian...

    Downloadable Audio Content

Listening to audio material (whether it be from the internet or in real life with actual people) is one of the most important aspects of acquiring a language. I have found only two sites so far which offer downloadable content in Armenian, both of them religious. If you have any other suggestions for downloadable content (preferable ones that are updated regularly), please enlighten us.

Some disheartening news, but anyone who has a rational mind already knew the reality of it...

(As a side note, the interactive map also shows Western Armenian to be endangered in Lebanon and the Middle East! This part was the biggest surprise as Western Armenian is regarded as being "definitely endangered" in the Middle East.)

Western Armenian Endangered Language in Turkey

Western Armenian as a language is in danger of disappearing in the Republic of Turkey, a recent report from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has warned.

An interactive map of endangered languages, showing 2,500 out of 6,000 tongues at risk, released by UNESCO, has placed the dialect, as well as the Homshetsma Armenian dialect among a list of 18 tongues in the Republic of Turkey at risk of extinction.

Western Armenian is currently spoken by some 60,000 Armenians in Turkey, where anything but the official state language is faced with extreme discrimination. The dialect was spoken by the Ottoman Empire's indigenous Armenians who were almost entirely eliminated during the 1915 Genocide.

Homshetsma, the language of an estimated 2 million Islamized Armenians, is considered a distinct dialect of Western Armenian. The dialect has classical and medieval Armenian at its roots but also has heavy Turkish and Arabic influence. Many of the Homshetsma speakers survived the Armenian Genocide unlike those who spoke Western Armenian.

Homshetsma is also listed as at risk in the Republic of Georgia, as the region in Turkey where most Hamshetsi Armenians live borders Georgia.
