Re: Are Armenian women handicapped because of their upbringing?

Some people can only see the world from their point of view... the world to them is their immediate surroundings. Not everyone is fortunate enough to live in different countries and experience different cultures. When I worked in Michigan, I found it odd that most of the people I worked with had never left their own state let alone the US. Their view of the world was so inward looking, almost as if they had never really left highschool even though they were 40 or 50 yrs old.
That's why I said we should always take into account the place, time, and circumstance!

You guys are missing the point. This is just one example. I have been all over the world and seen plenty of Armenian women in different places including Armenia.
So have I, Haykakan ... and here's something ... I LIVE in Armenia!

Why don't you guys let the girls talk and tell about what they think and feel instead of arguing with me.I said in my previous post that not all Armenian girls are like this and i talked about the ones who were.
Maybe it's just me but I've felt a lot of emphasis being placed on our girls for some reason and I couldn't and still can't understand why. I asked a simple question and no one said anything. Are we talking about Armenian girls in the US and/or Europe ... or the majority of Armenian girls/women around the world? This thread by itself didn't make much sense from the beginning, to be frank!

And by the way, many girls talked, some simply ignored them...

Sexuality is a difficult subject to discuss with your child but it has a extra taboo to it in MOST Armenian families especially when it comes to daughters.
How do you know??? I agree, there are families where sex is sorta embarrassing to talk about (there's nothing abnormal in that) but the majority of girls here know more about sex then you think. Most of the girls in the US or Europe can't even be compared to them! They have no boundaries and don't know what they're doing at all. You think someone gave them "sex classes" or "charm classes"? Whoever gave them did a bad job otherwise we wouldn't see ten year olds getting it on. Our girls got style, class, and everything anyone would want in a girl, brother, so let's not be dissing them in subtle ways. End of discussion.

Who should be the man that deserves to be a country’s president? The one who is able to do all things listed above and, in addition, in most difficult situations, when enforced by the mighty to say, to do something that violates the Armenian interests or core values; resolutely abstaining from the final answer/settlement indefinitely. Or until it is agreed with most of influential politicians who truly are representing majority of Armenian nation here in Armenia and abroad.
What does this have to do with this thread?!?!?

The ones who are able to pronounce a resolute no, each time, when an offer/action violates her core values, self esteem, personal or other settled plans, actions.
And where do you get your views from??? A resolute no, each time? What girls have you met, yekhpayr?

Are Armenian women a bit more spoiled than some other cultures.... yes. Do they see themselves a little higher up on the human food chain.... yes. This has little to do with our traditional upbringing and a lot to do with our modern world of haves and have nots.
But still, I wouldn't say the majority of Armenian girls are this way! And even if they were (and that's a very big IF) I'd rather live with them then the spoiled American female populace. Mihat hai akhjik chei pokhi nurants SAGHI het. Mi hat!

America hasn't seen Armenian fundamentalism yet.
They haven't seen a lot of things, not just fundamentalism...

Haykakan, I said tax payers shouldn't be funding it, I didn't say it shouldn't be funded. And since when did educated people have to accept evolution as a concrete fact?

You point out one woman (or man) on this planet who doesn't want "the easy life". Are Armenian women a bit more spoiled than some other cultures.... yes. Do they see themselves a little higher up on the human food chain.... yes. This has little to do with our traditional upbringing and a lot to do with our modern world of haves and have nots.

We can't all be j3welers, we can't all be Bill Gates, we can't all be lawyers and doctors... but don't blame it on our Armenian traditions. I have two nieces, and I guarantee you they will have a diploma in their hand before either of them even starts dating. America hasn't seen Armenian fundamentalism yet.

Who are the typical Armenian girls/women?

The ones who are able to pronounce a resolute no, each time, when an offer/action violates her core values, self esteem, personal or other settled plans, actions.

Who are the typical Armenian men?

The ones who possess all the values above and, as a reaction to the insulting words/actions is able to fight and force the foe to take it back.

Who should be the man that deserves to be a country’s president?

The one who is able to do all things listed above and, in addition, in most difficult situations, when enforced by the mighty to say, to do something that violates the Armenian interests or core values; resolutely abstaining from the final answer/settlement indefinitely. Just because girls were the way they were in AGBU, that doesn't make the majority of Armenian girls that way. You gave me a school of examples ... from your school itself!

    He's hilarious.
Thankfully, not as hilarious as what your saying.....

I got a whole school worth of examples for you. I graduated from AGBU and most of the school was females. Most but not all were patheticly self absorbed and always tried to outcompete each other by wearing the more expencive and flashy cloth. It got so bad that these girls were wearing freakin designer nightgowns to class. The school was forced to institute a strict dress code which ruined it for all the guys cause now we had to wear uncomfortable uniforms because of some self absorbed wenches. These girls did not have jobs they could not have bought these clothes with their own money so they went to dady or momy and asked for it and the stupid parents let their kids wear thousend dollar dresses to school. We had a 16 yearold girl get married and drop out of school not because she fell in love with a boyfriend but because some old ass rich xxxler wanted to merry her and she wanted the easy life so xxxx school and her parents were so happy about the whole thing. Then we had a couple 17 year olds get married the same way. Couple 18 yearolds after that all the same stupid story. These women were very much hurt by their upbringing, it was their parents who said it was ok and good to get married at 16 to some bald rich dude. It was the parents that bought those expencive dresses and let them wear it to school. Needless to say non of these girls got anything out of school because their parents never stressed education for their girls instead they fed the stupid sleazfest of who can make her mom or dad buy her the more expencive gown so she can wear it to school and show it off. These parents considered this bullxxxx "traditional upbringing" and their daughters were very much hurt by it because they grew up to be ignorent, self absorbed women whose husbands eventually left them.

It's Michigan, there is lots of money and little education.... people are used to working right out of high school or dropping out of school and working in the auto industry and making a good living. Seems like those young girls were influenced more by local tradition than their "traditional upbringing". They probably also had parents who didn't value education. Those days are over and things are changing. The easy money is gone.

    but I lost you here.

Sorry for the incorrect sentence should of edited it.What I meant was "Mixed (charm) with healthy dose of self-esteem.
I'll elaborate further.Self esteem comes from being loved, and not all girls have been loved as much as boys in our history, because of that sometimes you'll find overcompensation by certain members of the family which makes it evev worse .Parents love and encouragement goes a long way in producing a person that feels secure enough to love, and give.

BTW- I think less the degree in psychology, Kanada Still has a better insight to this issue then Haykakan.
