Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Re: Current Condition of Armenia

Policy forum Armenia has been egging these idiots on. They have been published propaganda 'research' pieces or posting old ones on their fb account. It must be nice for them to sit in DC or NYC and call for a revolution but they will not have to face the direct reprecussions.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

I feel most of the participants in that facebook group live outside of Armenia. The absurd part of it all is that they are looking up to Levon - just comes to show the stupidity and Hippocracy of that movement.

When you point out that fact to them, they reply by saying that there aren't many FB or Twitter users in Armenia

You know, their movement could garner a lot more support, both inside and outside of Armenia, if they just ditch LTP but they lack any kind of vision and strategy. The entire ՀԱԿ is a joke. It is made up of a dozen different ideological forces who have chosen the godfather of corruption as their leader, a man with no credibility and who was facing similar street protests more than a decade ago. Boy do Armenians never learn. Either that or we suffer from short term memory loss. Either can be fatal!

I think we're just wired with a King/Queen mentality. Armenian men want to be mafioso and Armenian women want to do nothing but run their mouths and give orders.

Now I'll hide to dodge bullets from my comment

Exactly, if they ditch Levon their movement might actually have some substance. Right now they are just drowning in hippocracy and many people refuse to join a movement headed by a ex-mafia/dictator that won't change anything, and will most likely make things worse for Armenia. We have to firstly have a president that is tough on Karabakh, and I highly doubt the opposition's desire for such a tough stance. During March 1 protests, those same people were yelling that Karabakh people are Turks. I'm serious. They have a great animosity towards the Karabakh people, and I'm afraid they will sell Karabakh for "open borders" or more realistically just fall into another Turkish trap, like Serzh did. I rather have current government to do some well needed reforms, rather than these people to take control.

Well it is easy enough to shoot that theory down. Facebook and Youtube are now on the list of top 5 most popular sites in Armenia. I think there are well over 250,000 fb users in Armenia now.

The majority of the people that make up these pathetic groups have no clue about politics, international relations, or even basic geoeconomics/geopolitics. They read an article here or there, listen to gossip from someone who just came back from Armenia, and then decide a revolution is the way to go. Furthermore, they are ignorant of the foreign forces who would love to see a new government in Yerevan, one that will bend over and take it in the @ss like the georgian government, and if you point this out to them you are a nutjob.

If one brings up the ltp question, some will dismiss him and say they do not support him, but then one has to ask, well who will step in to take Serj's place if he is ousted? There is no serious canidate(s) to fill the void at this moment. So instead of calling for snap elections, and bashing Armenia in the foreign press, maybe they should work on establishing a serious opposition that is a) free from foreign influence, b) isn't hysterical, and c) has a solid foundation ideologically.

This is not likely to happen because the foreign powers who are in bed with the so called 'opposition' would have to be kicked out first, and because those at the top have a lot to lose if a true opposition were to take their place. Anyway, better to stick with the devil you know.

                • Re: Current Condition of Armenia

Let all of us remember. The West is very interested in supplying Europe with non-Russian gas, mainly from Azerbaijan and possibly Turkmenistan. Now one big obstacle is Armenia, which is in the middle of all this, so they would love to have Armenia have open borders with its neighbours, at all costs, even if it means selling Karabakh or whatever it takes. These energy projects are very important for them, and Armenia for them is just an obstacle in reaching their energy goals. With a government that bends down to all Western demands, they can make it a reality and first, get rid of Russia troops and influence from the area, and make it a energy highway. The West may disguise all this under the cover of "democracy" or "reconciliation" but really what they care about the most their economic interests, and these gullible protesters should understand that. We definitely should make some reforms in our country, and they are being done, but we don't need a "colour revolution" that will make Armenia into Georgia #2 - that will just make everything much worse in the long run.
