I wouldnt point fingers at armenians, and I wouldent declair that they are racists. They simple wish to preserve their culture. Some are more traditional in their ways than others and want to preserve and continue the armenian tradition, and in marrying an armenian they can do this more so than marrying an non-armenian. Armenians are proud of their culture, and they should be. Its survived and been through alot. They have the right to "brag" and "boast."

Armeniankid: I'm really proud of your efforts to learn Armenian -- it makes me smile. Buuut, I just wanted to correct your use of "geghetsgootyoon." The root word is "gegh."

        Geghetsik means beautiful
        Geghetskootyoon means beauty

I honestly don't mean to be a know-it-all -- it's just that I think constructive criticism is the best way to learn. My dad learns his Armenian from us, and he requests that we correct his mistakes on the spot. Again, kudos to you. Apres!

hahahaha how cute!! No sweety, drop the 'du' and you'll do fine! Just shenorhakalutyn WITHOUT du!
I seriously laughed at that! You probably got it from 'thank YOU'
Good luck with the language, it's really not that hard... and you can always ask us for help

Isnt there also shnorhagalem for "thanks" or "thank you"? Like, I thank?

Hey Yosef, when in doubt - say "merci"

armeniankid: almost! although i speak western armenian, feel free to message me anytime if you have any questions. my dialect is not much different than yours, and i have a healthy grasp of eastern anyway. armenian language is one of my interests, and i love teaching it...so...really, take me up on the offer!

armobarbi: "shnorhagal em" means "i am thankful." "shnorhagalutyoon" means something like "thankfulness" -- although they are used interchangeably when thanking someone. the difference of course, is that the former is the adjective form of the word, the latter is the noun.
