  • I have a problem??

Hey it's my first time here.

Anyways, I am half armenian and half russian. I came to Los Angeles when I was 5 and have been here since I'm 16 now. The problem is that I live in Little Armenia in Hollywood and the armenians on my street seem to think that I'm stupid or moreover uneducated because I was raised in the U.S. instead of Armenia. For example I was walking by an armenian women talking to her friends and I heard her say look at her that U.S. grown armenian she probably doesn't know armenian. I couldn't take it and i told her that she should really make sure that when she was talking about a person she should make sure the person doesn't know what they're saying.

I don't know if it's then or maybe I really am different. I'm just confused any thoughts or advice?

    LadySilver,
Based on the little we know, it would be hard for us to make meaningful comments.
Are you sure that they think that those who do not speak Armenian are "stupid?" That is a strong word!
Maybe you should first help us understand the facts! Thanks!
For instance, why do you think that they perceived you as a "U.S. grown armenian?"

    PS. Welcome to the forum!
What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.

I'm positive that they think those who don't speak Armenian are "stupid", I've heard them say it. The U.S. grown Armenian well since I live in an Armenian neighborhood they've become friends with my parents and they see that I guess I don't know that much of the culture or because I haven't been back there since I was 5 and that I get nervious when I have to talk to my family over there because I have a feeling like I don't know them. It's a little hard to explain. Also the other day I went out to eat with my neighbors which happen to be African American and White. We were walking up the street and the Armenians just kept staring and one of them said how does an Armenian come out of a Black and a White. To me it was just funny but is it always like that?

As much as I love Armenians and am proud of being one, sometimes living in an all Armenian neighborhood can be annoying.... they're all so nosy and loud lol so good luck!

First, welcome to the forum. Great people here, always great to have new members too. Secondly, you are who you are, dont let anyone ever suggest otherwise. You have armenian blood within your vains, THAT identifies you as an armenian, not words from other people. You cannot change who you are, but should learn to embrace yourself and armenian and russian. Both are things to be proud of.

P.S- I am the non armenian of the forum.
