I am planning on giving my daughter due in November the Armenian name Seda. The baby name websites say this is an Armenian name meaning "forest voices." I would like to know more about this name. Does anyone know anything about it's history? What does the phrase "forest voices" refer to ... forest spirits? Maybe Armenian mythology? Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I just looked up a bunch of Armenian names and I have a question: Since when is Astrid considered to be an Armenian name? They have it listed as Armenian on numerous websites yet I've never met or heard of an Armenian with that name. I always thought it was Swedish or something...

"Seda" translated directly from Farsi (Iran) means "voice" or "sound". So that might be related to this "voices of forest" meaning. But the word "seda" in farsi has no Armenian roots as far as I know.
I know both Armenians and Turks named Seda.this post = teh win.
