    Re: Favorite Armenian Dishes ...

So I went to this Armenian restaurant I found on the Yellow Pages (couldn't find any online) and had some lahmajoon and it wasn't what I was expecting...

Earlier that day, I had spoken to my dad and he "explained" what was lahmajoon...so yes, I have had that...at least a thousand times, but the Arabic version...we have an Arabic chain of restaurants in Brazil that is very famous for lahmajoon (they call it esfiha)...SOOOOOO YUMMY...

I have also had the Armenian (Brazilian) version at a local Armenian restaurant...COMPLETELY different from the one I had yesterday...in Brazil, the dough is open and the meat is poured on top...the one I had was kinda like a "burrito"...it was a tortilla type of bread and it was rolled up...it was good though...

For those of you who have had/made Khadayif, did you have to buy the dough???? The cook from the restaurant said you have to buy it and mix it with butter...my grandma always made the "dough" herself, which makes me think that she wasn't making Khadayif after all...

lahmajoon is so common in Turkey and probably Kurds make it.If you ask a turk monte's origin, turks claim that is traditional turkish food.It is normal, there is so common cultures.Turks make dolma and sarma, but sarma should be common in west anatolia because pepper doesn't be used by making it.Grapevine leaf is used by making sarma.I am hungry know, why i saw this topic,i am going to have sth.But monte is my favouriteyumm

I think the word "revani" comes from yerevan (erivan-revan). It can be Armenian food??

Is revani some kind of Turkish cake? I don't think it comes from (Y)erevan, because the arrangements are too different...

It is not my arrangement. I think revan means yerevan in farsi.

No idea how "right" we made them, but my wife is Armenian and we recently made both lahmajoun and manti !
