Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Diaspora: Does it have a future?

The purpose of this thread is to discuss our Diaspora, specially whether or not it has a future.

I'm Hayastantsi who lives in Diaspora, fortunately not for the rest of my life but only for a period of time, so once the things I'm doing here are done I will be going back to Yerevan.

Since I've spent a lot of time in Diaspora I believe that I know reasonably well what is what. I made friends with a lot of very different people who have only one thing in common - an Armenian background.

Our Diaspora is like a water purifing machine working in reverse. You put clean water in it but it comes dirty from the other end. We have so many absolutely great, patriotic, honest and decent people in Diaspora but their number is diminishing every year, mostly because these people just get old and die. Some of their kids follow their parents and also become great patriots, but there a lot of those who don't. There are also a lot of those who assimilate and lost forever. And of course there are those who couldn't wait to leave Hayastan even if that means being someones cleaner for the rest of their lives.

My point is this: Our Diaspora is our future's enemy. Our future is joint and united fight by all means for our justice. Our battelfield is Caucaus, we ALL should live there and we all should take our fight to the turk from there. Hayastan is the home for ALL Armenians. Those who say "yes but my grandparents were from Mush and untill we have that back I'm not going anywhere" do not realise that the ONLY way we will get our lands back is by a fight by all means which can ONLY happen from Hayastan and when we are ALL there standing strong and united.

So, sit down and think about it, take your time. Then hopefully make some plans and act - move to Hayreniq!

Is that all you have to say on the subject? If that's the case then it's pretty sad for a young and I guess educated Armenian.

But I don't think any Armenian patriot is going to be sad if you stay where you are. After all who needs a sheep on the battlefield?

I'm happy where I am. I don't have any desire to be part of any battlefield, nor do I wish to fight anyone. I don't like being told where I should live, or where my home should be.

Sounds like you are as weak as piss, mate

But good for you, I don't really care. As I said in my above post we won't miss someone who puts Armenia second (if it all).

I'm weak as piss? Why? Because I said I was happy with how things are? Because I don't want to be part of some delusional fight over soil that no one here would live on anyway? Damn, you got me. Ok, I changed my mind, if you start the fighting I'll give up my life for one village in Eastern Turkey.
How exactly does it work? Such high levels of pride and patriotism, when it is actually based on something that is random, you have no control over where you are born, what ethnicity you are and so on. And if it was your ancestors that did something worthy, it is just that, your ancestors and not you.
Does it make up for your own personal short comings and failures? Because you see this in many countries. Look at the USA for example, the most flag-waving, agree-with-the-leaders patriotic people are usually the poorest, lowest classes of society. The same thing can be said about the ones who come home in coffins from the wars these people so proudly cheer on.
I think I'm going into another topic completely here so I will stop.

Good post, makes a lot of sense, some of us think the same way as you on this issue. I probably will not make the move from the USA for health and age reasons. But I dream and think about it a lot, I tell myself if I were younger I would. I like to consider myself as one of the good Armenian Nationalists. I try my best, as many others also do.

Re: Diaspora: Does it have a future?

Deadsy Jan - if you feel like acting like a kunt muscle, please don't. He's making a very valuable point - as a nation, as an entire group of people who identify with one language and culture - we all belong in Armenia. If you do not believe in this common uniting spirit (beyond the boundaries of pushing for genocide recognition), just say that. In essence, before asking you to fight some dumb tatar in Karabagh for some land you wont live on or some land that you really have no direct connection with - you're being asked to CARE about the future of the Armenian people - and the future is within the tiny borders of Armenia and karabagh - nowhere else.

If you don't care about that, or you just completely reject all forms of extreme patriotism, such as fighting, or moving back to Armenia, for whatever reason - just say that. We don't need to hear your pussee ass life story about how you think this is a "delusional fight over soil that no one here would live on anyway." The Karabagh war was a delusional fight? Are you out of your mind? Have you no sense of history? The karabagh liberation movement was based on the fact that the ARMENIAN PEOPLE of Karabagh should rule themselves and NOT by some TURKS hundreds of miles away....remember how that ended last time?

You're a fool. You think all of forms of patriotism are evil and misguiding. You do know what would happen if the Karabagh army lost the next war right? If you dont, ask me, and if you do - ask yourself if thats not worth fighting for.

It's a shame you can't put that in an even bigger font. Though I guess you'll feel like less of a fool when you realise I wasn't even talking about Karabakh.
