I disagree. ANY country, society, tribe, East of us are almost a perfect "homogeneous nations" ....

Look at this link. Half of the "Famous Armenians" are 50% or less Armenians. We should dump them? Chances are they are dumping us or do not want to be associated with us.

I didnt see half of those people being 50% or less armenian..that list sux btw
The most Famous Armenians are 100% Armenian or have one parent that is 100% Armenian, to claim someone as Armenian who has 1/8th Armenian like Princess Diana is stupid and ignorant. I dont claim anyone like that to be Armenian...
Im sure Chers son does not consider himself to be Armenian, i dont see anyone claming him as an armenian.

Though i find it intersting Chers Daughter was dating an Armenian girl.

Being 50% armenian is a big deal, as is carrying an Armenian name, but lets say your last name is O"reilly,, your Mom is Irish, your Dad is Irish with one grandfather being armenian--sorry i dont consider you armenian

You are not getting the point. It doesn't matter what anyone of us considers others if they are Armenians or not. Most mix Armenians if not ALL do not want to be associated with Armenia or Armenians the few (less than 0.001) that want to are being rejected cause their hair color might stand out during a rally in Yerevan.

For decades I have traveled across many countries and met many Armenians from over 8 diasporan countries not once have I noticed the genetic difference of our people till I started posting on these Armenian forums. Now I question if my friend "Hagop" is as a crusader leftover, or my other friend Ara had Middle Easter mix in him. For God's sake people stop this BS we are NOT homogenous. We definitely have specific trails of behavior, we have a good parameters of variances in appearances but we ARE NOT AS PURE AS YOU WANT US TO BE. WHO CARES.

I dont really know what your talking about, most mix armenians dont want to be associated with Armenians, like who?
Look at Cher shes 50% Armenian and on top of that her armenian father was a jerk and she claims her heritage. I've seen other famous half Armenians claim their heritage, i cant name any that wont excpet for Michael Vartan.

Im 100% Armenian with blue eyes, white skin and i get starred down at Armenian events, my grandmother whose a genocide survivor has blue eyes and auburn hair--should she be given dirty looks as well in yerevan?

I understand what your saying, I defeitley will not attend alot of armenian events because of all the starring and nasty looks. Also the questioning, like "you must be wearing contacts cause no armenian has blue eyes"

I have cousins with light hair and eyes, they are Hayastanci's and they have no problem. Whoever tells you this bs about people being mean to you in Armenia doesn't know xxxx, visit the place and see for yourself. Armenia belongs to all Armenians, meaning the patriotic, intelligent ones, not the trash that supported the xxxxx levin.

BS! Do your research, the above is absurd.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

Armenians of Glendale also were supporting levin. If you will be in Armenia this summer I will show you a good time and then you can decide how REAL Armenians are. Do not base your assumption of Armenians on the trash that you meet who have an Armenian last name.

                  BTW: Do you speak Armenian?

Again, Azad, you are taking my opinions out of context. Armenians in the Diaspora will never "benefit" Armenia, maybe the occasional political and economic "aid", but for the most part, a nation is the sum of it's people. In the modern age, "it's people" can equate to "it's citizens", citizens born, raised, and buried in Armenia. What you assume is that the Armenian state is one with the Diaspora, but they are not the same entity, one develops different with respect to the other. Furthermore, while the Armenia state has one goal (i.e. to serve the interests of the Armenian citizen), the Diaspora is a composite "group" comprised of Armenians of various backgrounds and with various interests that, most of the time, does not overlap. Thus (Let us be honest with ourselves), the Diaspora and the Armenian state are two different entities.

Furthermore, again, you are ignoring the fact that it is very easy to be "1% Armenian" and "consider yourself Armenian" outside of Armenia because outside of Armenia, even the 100% Armenians are not Armenian because the software downloads a multitude of different values and ideas that are alien to a citizen of Armenia. However, if you took that 1% Armenian to Armenia, they could not function in society, not so much so because "they don't look Armenian" or "can't speak the language", but because there exists unwritten cultural ways and rules that you can only pick up by interacting with Armenians there for a long period of time (Let us say for a lifetime).

A selective gradual admittance of certain people that are willing to be Armenians should not be discouraged ... we are NOT a defined pure genetic country club.
Azad, again, you are implying things out of the context they are presented, the reality is that Mikoyan was more Russian versus Armenian and his achievements, ultimately, benefited the Russian state not the Armenian. Maybe, that is exactly the conclusion you fail to understand.

Azad, this is not about variations among Armenians, go back to my posts, I am in agreement with you that there exists no such thing as a "pure Armenian", but I am not in agreement with you that there does not exist a certain racial spectrum that defines a Armenian. Certainly, you can not take a Asian, Mexican, or African, and pass them off as Armenian? No, of course not, but that is exactly my point, you are implying that you can do that, that you can take something that you are assuming is "staying the same", but in reality is "changing" to accommodate the assimilation of the Diaspora. This is not just "a question of race", replace race with culture, replace race with identity and you still maintain the same the equivalence in spirit.

However, by the time you understand what is exactly going and what I am implying it will be too late, therefore, it is a lost cause. I can only hope you see how claiming you are Armenian, but advocating change is a oxymoron.
