Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)
1] What you CAN NOT post.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene
You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)
The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!
2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.
This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.
3] Keep the focus.
Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.
4] Behave as you would in a public location.
This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.
5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.
Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.
6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.
Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.
7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.
- PLEASE READ -
Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.
8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)
If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I want to remind EVERYONE that we have to remain civil. All of us tend to blow things way out of proportion here and in doing so, lose focus. I for one have learned so much from all of you and look forward to reading everyone's posts.
Much of our problems stem from trouble communicating clearly. Some of this might be from using a second-language, being to brash, coupled with differences in age and culture.
And absolutely no bad language/cursewords will be tolerated.General Antranik (1865-1927): “I am not a nationalist. I recognize only one nation, the nation of the oppressed.”

Gavur really knows how to set an example, let's all give him a hand. Lal, don't take him seriously but remember that if you don't know about something, you shouldn't talk in a convincing manner. I know you just wanna help, welcome to the club, but please, Lal, be careful what you say, how you say it, and if you say anything, be ready for criticism although I'm completely against Gavur's mood. Sorry bro, can't hide the facts.THE ROAD TO FREEDOM AND JUSTICE IS A LONG ONE!

Woah, Saco Jan, you know hitite didn't mention anyone's age and I don't think anyone cares about age here. Your tail's been twisted, let it turn back!
But do me a favour? Bad language really annoys me, I like my daughter to read this forum, she's 11, and needs to understand her heritage, we don't use profanities at home, nor should this forum be one that I can't let her use. So Saco, can we use other words, words that can be more effective? Appreciate it.

you are right ,ı must not try to solve the political problems as if ı know everything well, who am ı? it is none of my business.armenian ,azeri,,turkish governments can solve it themselves. ı sound stupit offering solutions. but ı want real peace, and people loving each other again, thats why ı try to offer something. not to beat you.but sometimes ı can get very defensive and bad,ı know, this is my character,ı dont like to be attacked.
100 years has passed, but many of you still speak some turkish. this is exactly why ı understand the pain. ı never think armenians are foreigners. maybe you will get very offended again, but ı personally consider armenians almost like christian turks.
ı dont say these words to make you people love me, but ı really started to realise that it is my duty to work for the armenians, in turkey. as long as accepting the genocide officially, may bring some threats for turkish state, like compansations and giving lands, they may never accept it. but ı individually one more time ,and very sincerely apologise for the things happened from armenians.
it is very difficult for me to take a stand completely opposite of the state, unlike mr arda .ı cant go that further. but ı simply dont buy the things deniers talk about. not humanistic and not logical , and not even for the benefit of turkey.

I don’t see where Saco used bad language or profanity. If anything Hitite was provoking him and he is the one who used the four letter word.
Hey Hitite, there is no such thing as “that kind of Armenians”. Saco is trying very hard, with much credit to him, to bridge the gap between the young generation of Armenians and Turks which could bring more understanding of each other. That is a lot more than anybody can claim that they are doing and that my friend should be commanded and encouraged rather than be ridiculed like you have done.
This shows how desperately Turkey needs to continue to paint Armenians as monsters and to alienate them while Armenians, specifically our younger generation like Saco, try to connect and solve the problems despite what his people have gone through by the hands of your countrymen.
Can you understand how hard it is to do what he is trying to do, especially someone with no connection whatsoever to Turks (blood line or country of residence)?

We do not always agree and I will keep reminding everyone to take a step back and respond to each other calmly.

Originally posted by Joseph View PostVahe has a temporary ban. Sometimes its not what you say, but how you say it. We need to be civil here and if we disagree, still be courteous throughout. The personal attacks have to end. I do my part by keeping denialists out.
You said: “it’s not what you say, but how you say it”. Well, Joseph, firstly: English is my 4th language, some times I can not express myself the way you do, I haven’t been born in US and haven’t got the education in English, my schools and colleges were quit different from yours, but believe me I have learned a lot what you do not learn in school (although I eventually have done my Academic education in the best university of my country and continued it abroad). But anyway I do not feel like chewing always the same ideas in my posts and putting them in mouth of others to be easy to swallow, I make short points and try create momentum for a discussion or conversation, I do expect minimum level of intellect from opponent. I think my posts until now all have made some sense.
I know we defend the same cause although you do it your way (by running this forum) and I did it in more than one ways (at the moment by some reasons, temporary I am very limited in my options and I am doing what I can do ) so lets respect each other and be a little more patient. If you feel like banning me for good it is in your power as moderator and I guaranty there will not be any consequences from my part as I think what you do in this forum does make some sense. But personally I do not see any reason for that.I have been there... I have seen ruins of St. Karapet!

It needs to be understood that our Turkish friends who have joined and support us on the issue can often be put on the defensive. Despite the fact that we are dealing with a history that is close the a century old and the continued fall out, we need to understand that much of what we discuss is still new to them. All of us might be oversensitive at times. Everyone who is a member he acknowledges the Genocide, Armenian and Turk, but our views differ over some of the finer points, present relations, politics, etc.
We do not always agree and I will keep reminding everyone to take a step back and respond to each other calmly.
Thank you everyone!
I also like to say that personally I would hate to see this website loose any of its Turkish contributors which makes this place so dynamic and educational.
Thank you for providing such an important website.
