No. It was 80% of the people of Cyprus who wanted union with Greece. It was their self-determination right. The Greeks outnumbered the Turks 4 to 1 on every part of Cyprus.

Anyway, You are forgetting agreements signed by greece, turkey, uk and cyprus. You cannot do everything as you like. You cannot destroy an agreement with voting.. I am not talking about pressure against Turkish minority.

Turkey had every right for intervining. Occupying and dividing island is different issue. Greece tried to take all island and lost half of it.

Unfortunately the turks with American armaments were killing and massacring a great deal of Greek civilians in the 1960's to take over Cyprus that belonged only to the Greeks for thousands of years. I don't know why GeekForumer, but the turks ever since they charged into both our lands from the 12th through the 15th centuries have been very lucky throughout their miserable existence. The west plays field games with them with their political games and agendas always making them the winners despite their very belligerent past and till today with their Genocide denialist regime; which means they are still continuing the Genocide as it is the last stage of Genocide.

I thought the Turks invaded because Greece had turned into a dictatorship and the Turks felt they were poorly represented there. But hey, its Turkish government so I don't know what they were thinking.
