Hi everyone,
It is obvious that the people here in this forum, by historical, family-related or other reasons, could/would never renovate their ideas about the "Genocide" nor their subjectif opinion towards the Turkish People.
So my goal is not to deny, not to prove, not to change but just to
express my approach to the subject from a different point of view.
Myself, born in late 70s, can assure u that, no information but geographical about "Armenia" was given to me during my primary, high-school, university or family education in this country. Nothing bad, nothing good.
I knew that my 2 classmates were Armenians, but i also had xxxish friends, no difference for me then others.. Just different names..
If u ask about "Armenian Problem", it was and still is far too behind Economical, Kurdish, Islamist, Cyprus, EU problems in this country except the days like Today, when French or Swiss or other countries bring up front by political reasons.
By default, we think that there were no genocide but two-sided massacres, people was killed in reason of helping enemy armies.. as you guys, by default think there was A Genocide. But this subject never became a big one at all for an ordinary turkish.
I first "really" realized that there were a problem, and i was really, really shocked, when i was in a summer school in the US, 1998, we were like 10-15multi-national people sitting in a café including 2 armenian boys, 1 armenian girl.
The funny thing is that, we were chatting about different things, but they didnt knew i was turkish, and then when they knew, the boys left!
I have spent most of my summers in summer schools worldwide, met a lot of different people, different religion, race. All kind of discussions, sometimes small fights but that was the first time i was clearly discriminated!
Back to the story, the girl stayed, and we spent the whole night there talking about the Subject. She told me about the stories her grandmother told her and i was really suprised about the hatred ordinary Armenian livin in Armenia has towards Turks. At the end we became friends with her and 1 of the boys as the interesting part of the story ends..
Then i started to research the subject, unfortunately, i couldn't prove or disprove anything to myself, and at the end, i realized that it is more political then historical.
The discussions in this forum also proves it is..
Sadly, this political conflict, damaging both sides, won't bring anything to Armenian people, except being a puppet of Western Europen geo-politic strategy in the region.
You beleive or not, just 5 days ago, last Sunday, we were in a marriage ceremony in one of the churches in Istanbul, between my wife's armenian co-worker Talyn and a muslim turkish guy.. Her brother Ari happens to be my ex- teammate in Galatasaray WaterPolo team..
The armenian people here in Turkey, we are teammates, classmates, co-workers, buisness partners. They live good, not discriminated at all, go to the good schools, play in good teams, find jobs like any Turkish and free to practice their religion.
Like any other world-citizen who doesn't give up of love of his ancestors, but care about self-educating, raising a family, being useful and so on.. instead of looking out for some more "land".
So i ask myself.. and the people around me.. I read turkish newspapers, hear politicians.. If no hatred was educated to us in any historical or contemporary way, how come we decided to Genocide, remove Armenians from the surface of Earth less then a century ago but today we feel nothing towards them? How come that an Empire, being referred to Armenians as "millet-i sadika" (loyal nation) decides to "kill them'all"?
Imagine you have war with Turkey, and there are Turkish soldiers hanging around armenian streets, and french people livin in your country helps them raping your sisters, moms, daughters.. Won't you kill your french neihbor next door? Maybe yes maybe not but this is the Turkish view on the subject. And this picture cannot be named genocide..
If you say the picture i draw is bullxxxx, theres nothing i can do, thats what i beleive, thats what i was told. As you were told something else.. Same as religion..
These questions, you have the no-doubt answers, i unfortunately don't.
But i know something:
For those who are looking for an apologize, a fact to be admitted, a crime to be named, this should be worked on..
In an international platform, by the Historians!
Those will be my brothers and sisters for eternity, even our word for "tomato" and many more are the same anyway..
But those who are looking for something else, they will always find a strong force facing them.
In our long long history, we turkish people never became a minority, never was treated as second-class citizen in our lands.. So its a bit hard to understand the way you feel, don't blame us for this.
But if u wanna change your destiny? Change it yourself!
You dream for someone else to breakdown a good Company, establish a new one instead, and make you the owner
The good company is a GOOD one, and the GUY, he says that you'll be the owner, but doesn't give a xxxx about you
Work hard, upgrade your league, and come to play with these guys yourself!
In the meantime, don't disturb Turkish nor Armenian citizens of Turkish Republic 'cos they live happily here!
