Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • I also signed this petition as being a Turkish who lives in Stockholm..Unfortunately the internet site of the campaign is under attack and down at the moment. According to the admins, the registration in to the campaign was also failed in some periods of time due to the DDoS attacks.

One other new is that a good movie will be in the theatres in Turkey starting from 23.01.09. The movie is called Güz Sancısı in Turkish. The direct translation of the name would be something like "The Autumn Pain". Movie has been directed by Tomris Giritlioglu and the story has been adapted to the silverscreen from the novel with the same name and from the author Yilmaz Karakoyunlu. The story bravely tells the violance events occurred in 6-7 September of 1955 within the neighbourhood of Beyoglu (Taksim), İstanbul as most of the shops in Beyoglu was run by the non muslim minorities and they have been dramatically violated by the radical nationalists.

The director of the movie thinks that the core culture in Anatolia is to understand and live with the differences among people wihout any racism. I think that the movie Güz Sancısı will help to create a serious debate atmosphere in Turkey once again, and help the solid minds to start thinking just a little bit with the help of this dramatic and effective story. The historical events take place besides the love between a prostitute named Elena and a nationalist young Turk Behçet.

You may reach the teaser of the movie from the following link but unfortunately everything is only in Turkish.

Welcome Berkopath. Thanks for the tip on the movie.

I've been to Stockholm six times and will probably be there again next summer. It's a beautiful city. The first time I went, I was surprised when I found out that all the kebab and almost all the pizza restuarants are owned by Turks. I could even find pizza with soujouk or doner on it! I couldn't believe it. Right across the street from my inlaws is a pizza place and they are Turkish too. Every time I go there they give me a discount on the price, because I speak Turkish with them.

One time I was at a coffee shop in one of the suburbs of Stockholm with an Armenian priest (the only one in Scandinavia at the time). The owner of the shop ended up being Turkish, and we started speaking with him in Turkish. He was shocked to see 2 Armenians (one of them a priest) speaking Turkish with him in the middle of Stockholm.

        Hej Do!

But this decision taken, if more turks had taken a similar stand in 1915, this forum may not exist. Different days though, different days. The internet has been a primer for liberation in many countries, just as was television in East Germany.
My friend, Arda, I salute you. Good luck!
I hope you guys remain safe and it never comes to that.

Steph makes a very valid point. Ideas, free-thinking, and rationality is the most powerful force. Ultra nationalists everywhere are losing ground, not just in Turkey but many places. Never in the history of mankind has there been such a vessel and instrument for the truth. The fascist maching world-wide is slowly breaking down but it may take decades. It is happening in the US as well. Although there has been some push back, the counter-reactions of the fascists only make them look more impotent.

            • In my opinion we need people more than political parties. I don't believe politicians can break ice berg between us. we can break it only thing we need to do something together, know each other, share our lives... we have a long distance between us but big adventures always start with a little step.

                • I think some thing must be done about this.

The translation to Portuguese is not correct on the site of apology.

                  It states:

“My consciousness does not accept to be invisible towards of denial of greater catastrophe which IS ATTEMPTED BY ARMENIANS OF OTTOMAN EMPIRE.”I reject this injustice for my share; I empathize with the feelings of ALSO my Armenian brothers and sisters. I ASK FORGIVNESS FOR THEM.

I have tried to contact the webmaster but culdnt find a contact. Any one can contact the administrator of the site ? I can provide a cporrect translation.

This is correct translation of text of apology to Portugues:

A minha consciencia não aceita ficar indeferente ao negação da Grande Catástrofe ao que Armenios do Império Otomano foram submetidos em 1915 Rejeito essa injustiça por minha parte e compartilho os sentimentos dos meus irmãos e irmãs Armenios. Peço desculpa ao eles.
I have been there... I have seen ruins of St. Karapet!

ı am really disgusted by the extreme reaction of the opposers to apology. ı try to understand them. but ı cant. our military and prime minister stated that, this is against to the interests of our country. well ım not sure. but even it is so, we do need to accept the facts.unfortunately these reactions showwed the real face of turks and turkish state clearly.

but , on the other hand, ı really dont like to be considered in the same side with people like mr arda. ı mean he wants turkey to be divided into many pieces, not only kurdistan, he wants turkey to accept many other genocides,he doesnt respect ataturk,he can ally with islamists , he is emberrased by our national fights, etc.so, ı dont understand them at all either. and ı dont want to be considered the same with these people.

ı only want turkey to be a more modern country. thats all. being a modern country means ,being able to criticize yourself, but not to hate yourself, more human rights, more democracy, more justice, less poorness, less religon, less nationalizm.but not giving any land to nobody, not accept every tragedy, bloody fight as a genocide.

ı want improvement in our relationship with armenians ,if they can reply.but not unconditionally. ı feel extreme sympathy to armenians who complain of ottomans violance,ı get embarassed. but ı do not feel sympathy to armenians who consider everyhing about turks evil.

what do you think. do you think like mr arda, turkey must surrender unconditionally and do all of the most nationalist armenians demand.--which ım sure is a deep dream, never, ever can happen-- . or

do you want apology so that turks look better in europe since you live there,

or do you apologise only for moral reasons and a better country like me.

                    can you please tell me.

                    lal
